Biggie's Vert update: suspension, exhaust, wheels

Postby biggie » Sat Mar 03, 2007 8:33 am

I need alignment, but don't want to go anywhere before pull and roll fenders. Also have exhaust leak on the top part where dp joins cat. Old ehaust had lost the welds at the muffler, it was bad.

Before

After suspension

After exhaust

After wheels

Looks good...what are you dropped on? Is an Apex'i N1 exhaust?

Stance looks beefy with those wheels and tires. Some red calipers behind them will really set things off IMO.

Tanabe GF210 springs.

SSAutochrome N1 dual-style

I'll probably just do black calipers, got tired of red calipers a while back.

yeah, looks like you need a pretty serious pull in the fronts

may i ask why you didn't get a narrower wheel/tire for the front? that sticks out a lot in the front (compared to the rear). i'm sure those things keep the car pretty well planted though.

overall, car looks really good.

There will be neg camber as well, won't be too bad on the pull, the fronts really shouldn't hit the fender (isn't that low), but the rears will.

I've always believed in not staggerring the wheels (and rotating wheels) and there is no sportmax 002 that I could have done just for the front.

Front fenders rolled, rears pulled.

Discovered the front fender braces that I didn't realize the Verts had, interesting. But blocks from doing a complete roll without removing the fender.

I'll get pics after alignment. Here's one off of the site that did it for me.

recommendations for Biggie...

1. MUCH smaller tires, get that **** stretched like a regular condom on a magnum d!ck.

2. GET IT LOWER. springs give a nice ride, but not a nice stance, especially on a small wheel setup.

3. Drive it like it should be, those 2 steps will give you a MUCH more spirited drive, SO ENJOY IT!!!

thats jus my opinion though

Remember: this is a DD.

Hate the stretched look, I wanted more tire for better patch on the ground to improve handling(Same reason i lowered it).

This is the cheapest build possible, as I'm super broke. Did not want coilovers due to costs and didn't need to be super low (have enough problems going anywhere in my coupe already).

The Vert with an AT is not gonna be a really spirited driver. Eventually I'll probably swap it over to 5spd, but that's a long ways down the road after I'm completely happy with my coupe.

Looking good, man. I'll have to make the next meet so I see it in person.

Dunno if these are still out of your price range but have a look:

Yeah too high, got the Tanabe springs and Tokico shocks for $480 shipped. I have the D2s on my coupe, but I got them a lot cheaper than they are now (both K-sport and D2 have jumped in price quickly).

Biggie, looks awesome.

You don't need coilovers. Hell, a nice spring / shock setup will PWN cheap coilovers any day.

Find a wingless red trunklid and you'd be ballin'.

Actually have a Silvia trunk with K's spoiler I'm gonna try for a little different look. We'll see how it is.

Thanks

Also not sure how it would be about inspection/getting pulled for no 3rd brake light around here.

Final update:

DONE. Now not to touch it for a while.

Aligned, -2 in front, -1.5/-1.9 rear (no more adjustment on rear passenger side).
