I've scoured the internet. It seems petroleum based lubes such as white lithium grease degrade rubber. Silicon spray seems to be recommended quite a bit. Maxnix says Wurth preservative. Where can I find Wurth and will it eliminate the squeaks and creaks? Are sprays just as effective as gels? I had some motor oil applied to my dried up and noisy rubber subframe bushings as a temporary solution, but the noise is coming back a little. I'm looking for the longest lasting, most effective lube that's safe on rubber and easy to find.

I see that this stuff will preserve, but will it also lubricate to eliminate the creaks and squeaks on my already brittle bushings?

No, brittle bushings have failed and must be replaced.

The Wurth will only preserve them longer, not restore them.

Ok, I bought some 303. I'm gonna apply that then follow up with some silicone. So- will silicone spray be as effective as a jelly like silicone grease substance? What do you pros recommend to this ignoranus?

Keep your bottle of 303 Aerospace protectant from freezing, it ruins the mixture---store it in the house!!!!

I think you will end up having to replace the bushings, silicone or 303 really only prolongs their life, it cant raise the dead.

Wow!

Truly amazing!

There doesn't exist a magical spray to resurrect rubber?

The earth is still round, or at least slightly pear-shaped!

Sorry guys, had to get in my maxi impression.. . So, JELLY > SPRAY or no??

The real question is, "Do I install new bushings or drive an unsafe beater?"

Such a difficult choice!

Its time for bushings, friend. Your car will thank you, as will your tires.

You mean the lowball DT yk520's I recently put on my beater?

Seriously though, I can't afford the bushing job right now. I had a mechanic check out the whole underbody and he said the bushings were still fine, just drying out. He said I could drive them as they were. The motor oil he put on them 2 weeks ago wore off and the creaking is back. Look, I'd replace them tomorrow if money wasn't an issue. I'm just looking for a way to get by for a couple months when I can better afford to pay for replacement. I've heard it's a very time consuming job.
