2008 g35 sedan x. If I sit the car for 5 or 7 days the battery drains. Is there a common problem with this on the G? The battery is new and still drained.

If it still has the original battery then it either has a weak cell not accepting a full charge or you are not using the vehicle enough to fully charge your battery.

Use a battery hydrometer to check the cells.

The battery is new. The car should not need to be driven every 5 days. Something is draining it. I just wanted to know if anybody has had a similar issue. I will begin the pains taking job of finding the slow draw. Thanks.

Just because the battery is new doesn't mean it is not defective.

Do all the cells accept a full charge?

Have you measured the voltage across the battery with the engine running? Should be about 14.4v if the alternator is working correctly.

Have you added/changed/modified anything electrical to your vehicle? If so you might want to start there.

Good luck

It's the second new battery. A quick search found many with this problem. Apparently there is a tsb on battery drains for the G35/G37. The tsb is a bcm fix and a purge valve replace and also a reflash. It said the valve can drain the battery slowly.
Thanks for the advice. I may take it to infiniti, not sure.

i had a simular issue o n my g37x... turned out to be the battery in my case. My original battery was 3 years old and low on fluid, i replaced with a maintence free battery and problem went away.

Just wanted to update to let folks know what I found. Like I said I knew the battery was good. According to the tsb the purge valve can hang up and drain the battery. All I did was get the battery to full, disconnect the purge valve connector and checked it. No drain. I replaced the purge valve $50 or so, let the car sit for a week. Battery was full charge after sitting for a week. So the purge was my issue. Pretty easy fix. I'm very happy because others have had nightmares with battery drains. Plus my G sits alot and it's a real pain to come out to a bone dead battery after 4 days! Maybe this will help someone.

superuber: did you replace the valve with an original Infiniti version or did you use an after market such as one made by Dormin?

I used an after market one. no issues. Not a dorman, but dorman makes decent products.
On a side note I installed a optima yellow top deep cycle battery.
WOW! The starter fly's now when it turns over :)

Great, will try your test before buying the evap valve. Wondering if there's a fuse I can pull instead though rather than removing it?

We'll also keep an eye out for a deep cycle battery..waiting to see if i can pick up one on sale this boxing week :-)

Just unplug the connector on the valve.
Not sure what fuse it is.
