Here are a list of all recalls that Nissan has released for the 2000-Up Sentra for quick reference. *Note: These are only listed here for general reference only. The only way to be sure if there needs to be recall work done on your car is to take it in to a Nissan retailer and they will look up your VIN to see if there needs to be some work done. They can also tell you if any recall work was already previously done on the car.
- 2000-2001 Sentra/Engine Sensor (QG18 Engine Only)
On some 2000 and 2001 model year Nissan Sentra vehicles, there is a possibility that the engine might stop running while being driven due to a defective crank position sensor. This may also result in the "Service Engine Soon" warning light coming on or reduced engine power. If the engine stops running while driving, this could result in a crash.
- 2000-2001 Sentra/Front Suspension Bolts
On some 2000 and 2001 model year Nissan Sentra vehicles, there is a possibility that one or more of the attachment bolts for the front suspension lower control arms on the left and right sides may break as a result of not being manufactured correctly. Broken attachment bolts could cause unusual noise from the front of the vehicle and/or vibration felt through the steering wheel when hitting bumps and could also affect the steering. If these symptoms are not noticed or are ignored, all of the control arm attachment bolts could break. This would cause difficulty in steering the vehicle and could result in loss of control of the vehicle and a crash.
- 2000-2002 Sentra Engine Control Module (ECM) Case Holder
On some 2000-2002 model year Nissan Sentra vehicles described above, there is a possibility that the engine may stop running while being driven due to contamination of the Engine Control Module (ECM) by the inner lining material. This may also result in the "Service Engine Soon" light coming on or poor driveability. If the engine stops running while driving, this could result in a crash without warning.
- 2002-2005 Sentra Engine Control Module (ECM) 2.5l (QR25DE) Models
Can fail without warning. Contact a dealer to see if your VIN is within the affected range.
- 2000-2001 Sentra Steel Road Wheel Replacement
On some 2000-2001 model year Nissan Sentra vehicles, there is a possibility that cracks may develop between the cooling holes in the steel road wheel as a result of improper manufacturing. If cracks develop between a sufficient number of cooling holes, the wheel could fail and separate from the mounting hub and result in loss of control of the vehicle and a crash. The spare tire steel wheel is not affected with this condition.
- 2001-2002 Sentra/Headlamp Adjuster
Nissan has determined that the headlamp assemblies on some 2001 - 2002 Nissan Sentra vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108 — Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment.
- 2000-2003 Sentra Engine Sensors
On some 2000-2003 Sentras, there is a possibility that the engine might stop running while being driven if the crank position sensor fails. This may also result in the "Service Engine Soon" light coming on or reduced engine power. If the engine stops running while driving, this could result in a crash without warning.
- 2003-2004 Sentra Catalytic Converter/Front Tube Replacement
There is a possibility that the catalytic converter may have deteriorated excessively resulting in an increase in exhaust emissions. This may also result in the malfunction indicator light (MIL) in the instrument panel coming on.
- 2005 Sentra/Vapor Hose
A vapor hose located inside the fuel tank may not have been formed correctly in the manufacturing process. When the vehicle is parked with a full fuel tank, fuel may flow into the vapor hose, which is connected to a vapor canister. If the vehicle is parked for a long enough time, the vapor canister could become full, and excess fuel could spill out onto the ground. This could result in a fire if an ignition source is present.
Other Possible Problems with the Sentra not mentioned above
- 2002-06 Sentras with the QR25DE motor butterfly screws.
On some Sentras equipped with the QR25DE motor the butterfly screws may come loose and be sucked into the intake. To ensure that this does not happen just requires some Loctite be applied to the screws to ensure that they do not work themselves out.
