I wanted to add an Aux in to my M35 and since I dont have the Tech package, it looks like my only way is to go with some aftermarket adapter.

I installed this one, PA15-NIS by USA-Spec.

iIve installed the aPAC-NIS2 in my 2006 M45 Sport for my MP3 player--I don't have an iPod but it works well. Installation took a little while since you have to access the stereo unit, but you can search removal of the center console and radio unit and find an easy step-by-step guide. I didn't buy the kit to have my steering wheel controls work, but my MP3 player has easy controls and I keep it in the center console, so it's close at hand.

I ended up ordering the stuff and hopefully put them in and do the nav hack at the same time.

Im going to return my GROM and try the USAspec box. The GROM audio quality is horrible and the iPod text is worthless.

I did the nav hack and installed the iPod/iPhone controller. It took me like 3 hours taking my time and being nit picky.
I ran the cable for the iPod and Aux in to the glove box but i think i might rerun them to the arm rest area.

The ipod interface is ok, a little confusing but I am sure i will get used to it. I cant find the fast forward only skip song, so that kinda sucks but it does have a setting for manual control.

the song and artist tiles is displayed and if you press "status" the text is printed out about 20 letters and is easier to read.

I ran the ipod cable with out cutting anything, it barley fit through the spacing under the cup holder area.

I placed the ipod control under the cup holders.

Thanks for posting those two pics. They gave me the confidence that the interface module would fit there, and that's where I put mine, only forward a bit. My install.
