As i was looking in the Tein coilover website... i came across this Type HE coilover... the discription says it's design for Drifting... and it's only listed for the S13, S14, and FC...Anyone on here has it? If so does it make drifting easier? or has more dampening control?

Thanks

Yep, it is good stuff. Pretty stiff springs and mega-adjustability. I love mine.

Have you try like Tein Flex or HA or other Tein coilovers? How does this compare to like HA or Flex?I'm thinking of getting Tein coilover and make my project 240sx a drift mobile... but i want to know what makes the HE different then the HA or Flex... and does the extra price worth it to get the HE?

:(

yes the HE's are worth the extra money. they come with the PBMs on all four corners and also have fully threaded damper bodies with adjustable spring and strut mounting perches. None of which the HA's have. They also have higher spring and damping rates than the HA's.

I have no first-hand experience with the Flex, but I hear they are not as "performance oriented".

I run HEs on my s14. I love them. I think the whole drifting thing about them is that they have a short shock stroke so you can dump the car and not worry about proper rebound control. Plus the pillow ball upermounts in front allow crazy camber adjustment. I am a grip driver, I spend most of my time on the autox course. As for making drifting easier, I don't really know. But I would say yes because any really stiff suspension would limit unwanted movement wich would disturb car control during those times of traction free fun.

And they are really stiff.

Sorry to beat the dead horse, as a grip driver do you feel that the HE system is just as addequate for grip driving as the HA's

I know the HA can adjust untill you crack your windsheild on bumps, but can ride in comfort when you want it as well...

Im more looking at it from the performance perspective however....

Will the HE's do everything the HA's will for grip driving?

I must say that the HE's can do more than the HA's. Their sheer adjustability makes up for anything the HA's can or can't do. The HE is basically an uber pimp HA.

Just looking at the Tein website, I can not see any real diffrences between the HE and HA models other than the pillow ball upper mounts and a helper spring that the HAs come with. I have no idea what those do.

Voltron, there is a MAJOR difference between the HE's and the HA's. The entire body of the HE damper is threaded and you can adnust both the spring perches and strut mounting perches. Plus the springs are much stiffer. There is no helper spring on HE's though. I dunno if the HA's have them or not.

The HEs will still be around, they will just have to come from Japan. Tein wants to push its SS and Flex lines to the US market.

240Keyy: I totally over looked the big diffrences. Looking more closely at the two diffrent coilovers, I am glad I chose the HEs!

newbie ques. how much diff. is the suspension setup for grip driving/roadrace that for drifting? will the HE's provide adjustments for both? sounds like it, and I want to do both:)
