A few for sale here in AZ.

Where you gonna find a door panel or a dash or a windshield or a weatherstrip kit for a 40-year old Japanese car that was never imported to the US?

If you can't afford to restore a classic Z, you sure as hell can't afford to restore a Skyline. Simple as that.

Woah woah woah.... When did this ever become a question of me being able to afford anything? To be surprised about a $20k price tag on a 40 year old rusted hunk of metal is different than not being able to afford a $20k 40 year old rusted hunk of metal. Ease up on the "afford" word until you see my bank account... Now, lets find me a car. If you know of a few in AZ then send me some numbers, some info, something...

Sorry, I took a bit of offense. I didn't mean to get angry, but that's the truth.

keep in mind you are talking about a car that was not available in north america, the few that made it in were grey market or brought back by servicemen, they are very few and very far between, if you find one buy it, might take years to find anther, if you want one, you can't be picky

Read up on why there are few remaining in Japan.

It's not cost-effective to keep a car that old on the island.

Example for you: My friend's '65 Silvia cost over $45K to bring to the US.

I'm not interested in your bank account. If you have the money, then you can hire a broker to locate one for you. No offense intended, it's just a way to seperate the dreamers from the players.

First off, the C10 Hakosuka ('69-'72) was not the first Skyline. The Skyline started back in 1957.

Now to your request. You are looking at a minimum of $15k for a running Hakosuka. Four doors are a bit cheaper than 2 doors. The four door was made from '69-'72 while the two door was only offered for '71 and '72. Realistically you should expect to pay between $20-$25k for a good 2 door. Like any other classic car, it has specific rust prone problems. The spare tire well, the lower rockers beneath the doors, and at the base of the rear window. At the lower end of the price spectrum expect to need to cut out some rust in one of these spots. If price is not much of an issue, I suggest buying a $30k car. At this range the car will be nearly perfect. You can just drive it and not worry about it needing any repairs. I brought in my '71 2 door five years ago. And back then it ran me around $14k. My car had a little rust, a beat down suspension, and tired stock motor. None of this mattered to me as I had planned to replace it all anyhow. I only mention it because that is what you should expect for $15k.Plan another $1500-$2000 for shipping and customs fees. Of course all of this also depends upon you doing it all yourself. No matter what, it is a time consuming process.

^ I was hoping Brian would pop in.

He's one of the foremost experts on the old ones, and has owned quite a few.

I want the full experience.. Thanks so much for the help. I have a few other deals working. P.S. Brian, whenever I'm 100% on doing this I may contact you. I may be moving jobs, so this idea is gonna be on hiatus for a bit.
