I've scratched the platic display/information screen in center of the dash. Does anyone know a good way to take the scratch out without messing it up further?

How bad is the scratch? I'd consider leaving it alone ...

If not, then you might want to check out 3M's web site - they might make polishing products to help reduce the effect of this kind of scratch.

As a preventitive measure - especially for those that have the "touch screen" technology - it would be a good idea to get some of the "screen protector" material cut it to fit and place it over the screen. Don't use the ones with the adhesive backing, use the type that is electrostatic. It is almost impossible to repair an LCD screen once its been scratched.

Try this, dont laugh or dismiss this either.

A "WHITE" pencil eraser or "WHITE PATROLEUM JELLY type VASELINE"! Even neosporin has been known to work. Rub the vasiline or neosporin into the scratch with soft terry towel or microfiber towel. These are cheap easy known fixes to LCD type screens. These items will either completely fix the scratch or make it less noticeable. Even try a combination of both if the white pencil eraser doesn't totally work.Leave feedback please after you try this.

Be careful - I would guess that their is some anti reflective coating on the plastic. It may be on the inside of the plastic or possibly on the outside. If it is on the outside, if you try and polish/buff, then the anti glare coating will come off as well and it will look a whole lot worse than just the scratch.

there definitely is not a anti-reflective coating on these screens... they glare more than anything I have ever seen. They are, however, polarized, but I do not think that doing any of that stuff above would effect that.

I am interested if any of those "which doctor" fixes from m4t5 work. j/k don't yell at me lol.

Striz - You may be right, but while I agree that they do reflecy, I wouldn't be so sure that they aren't coated at all. There are different levels of A/R coatings and each level has tradeoffs between A/R and the viewing angles.

I don't see how you could make it worse....it's already scratched.....

Hate to be a stickler, but as an optometrist I know a little bit about coatings. AR coatings let more light through at any given angle. You can see when a lens (in my case), or glass because there is slight color to the outer glass. Most glasses coatings make the lenses look green, some binoculars will look red, etc. so I don't think there is an actual anti-reflective coating on the outside, mainly because what you were saying they scratch very easily.

I have been wrong before, but this is the first thing on this forum where I ACTUALLY know what I am talking about lol

ive tried the white eraser trick real quick in my garage, and it seemed to work.. but my monitor needs to be in a little sunlight to notice the scratches so it'll probally be easier to tell/fix during the day. .

thanks for the tips !
