Hi everyone I have a ls6 engine and m12 transmission that I'm about to pull out my z06 corvette and I would like to put it in a 300zx..I was quoted $8,000 for the labor..I would have to bring this shop my motor and transmission and also bring the 300zx shell..to get all the gauges to work in the 300zx it would be extra ontop of the $8,000..
Seems a little high and I know all about the "you get what you pay for" thing but I just want to make sure I'm not getting ripped off.

Not beyond the realm of reason at all. Everything, and I mean everything, is going to be custom made by hand.

LOJ Innovations makes a nice ls swap kit that uses the stock Z trans and makes the swap a pretty straight forward drop in. If your going through a shop that will have to fabricate everything the 8k doesn't sound unrealistic.

Agreed, your quote seems in the right ballpark. Lots of custom stuff to make and integrate, and if they use any of the kits that Z-Owned mentioned it may be higher due to that plus the shop's labor. Especially in the area of electronics as you mentioned.

8k seems like a lot just for labor.. I did the swap myself and fabbed everything myself and I'm at just over 8k including buying a shell and turbo setup and wheels...

That's the kicker. You fabbed everything yourself and are not guaranteeing your work. There's no warranty. The shop has to cover their backs.

True.. What I meant was for the stuff that's out there to buy for ls swapping it 8 seems like a lot for just the labor. Loj has just about everything needed if your plans are just to ls swap it. I need my motor to sit farther back for my turbo setup in the front so there swap wouldnt work for me but for 2k you could have just about everything to bolt it right in.. Idk just my 2 cents

If shop rate is $100/hr, 80 hours or two weeks of someone's time isn't completely unreasonable given that they will fabricate, install, test, troubleshoot, etc, until you get a clean working solution.

LOJ Innovations did my LS swap. IT was ALOT more than $8k because I got my motor COMPLETELY rebuilt (6.0L LQ9 iron block), heads/cam, new pistons, rods, ARP bolts, head studs, mains, Aluminum driveshaft, UD pulley, longtubes, dual 3" exhaust, dual custom intake, ported FAST 102 manifold, 102 TB, 100mm MAF, Custom mishimoto rad setup, oil cooler, power steering cooler, Akebono 2 piece front and rear BBK from Z1 motorsports, full powertrix suspension, ES bushings everywhere, fender braces, customer grounding kit, battery relocated to trunk, Quaife LSD with 350z 3.58 diff, Wheels/tires.......so for a BASIC BASIC swap for $8k that cheap. I would assume stock exhaust, stock manifolds....EVERYTHING STOCK.
