After owning a G35 for a year (still have my Q, just retired from daily driver status), i've been contemplating getting rid of my G and finding a clean Q, but it seems they're nowhere to be found. Has anyone seen any mint 1st gen Q's for sale, I'm talking like 120k or less and good maintenance and paint/interior? Around my parts it's absolutely impossible to find a Q without rust (including mine).. I think what I would do is take all the goodies out of my current Q, and just make that my daily driver. Would prefer a 90-93 with the guides done, or a 94 (no 95 or 96's)

Currently sitting at 231k on my Q (just a baby), the G is currently down with a clutch related issue (master or slave cylinder), so the Q is back to daily status at the moment.. Honestly I think if I could find a nice Q for say 4k, put 2k into it, swap my manual trans into it (which I already have all the parts for), I can't really think of anything I would rather have.

Maybe I'd be in your boat if my car suddenly evaporated - but I'm not sure that I'd be ready to invest in a car with such limited parts availability. Apparently guides aren't even available from the factory now.

That said, I have no idea what I'd replace it with if I had to...

That CA car looks beautiful. I think we've seen it recently though?

isn't it possible to install the metal guides from the 94 -96 on the 91-93 and permanently resolve the issue?

Possibly my Dads 90 with 62k miles...
He was ready to haul it away to the junk yard, but I stopped him (for now).

I'm really not that concerned about parts availability. Ideally I would want a non-HICAS, non-TCS, non-active car. You can get aftermarket chain guides, and realistically now that more people are getting into using VH45's for swaps, parts are usually not that bad. I also have a stockpile of some parts in my attic. I'm not really sure of any parts I can think of that are impossible to get that regularly fail?

Funny enough that car was on craigslist for awhile for over $5k by the original owners son. Then it looks like it was sold to that car dealer and the price has dropped over the 6 months its been for sale. I would love to drive it if ever get a chance.

Not sure if theres something wrong with it or no one cares anymore about these. Plus Bay Area prices are inflated, if it were in the mid west it would be closer to low 2's.

Dude, you are the perfect candidate for one. As for parts, it seems you can still find most things. For example, replaced the old cracked rad fan in mine with a new Z32 fan - fits perfectly (and looks identical to the old one). Felton's or a U-pull it yard for the rest of the hard stuff (retro-fitting 94-96 injectors for example). Only thing custom might be under plenum hoses? I'd like to stockpile window regulators (the 95-96 improved design) and a few other parts depending on what I run across.

Also with gas prices, a V8 sedan that is paid for still doesn't cost much to own. Plus it's more fun :gapteeth:

That '91 was on craigslist, bay area a few months ago, but I thought they pulled the ad. I LOVE that color. It's still on the dealer's website:
http://www.x600.net/vehicle-details/199 ... bb326816e/

almost done with hairdryer install on my '92 :gapteeth: although I'll probably have to put in a custom radiator and custom driveshaft in the near future

So does that mean you are out for the windshield washer nozzles?

I frankly prefer the final refinements on the 1885 over any other USDM G50.

I expect Brian meant the 1995.....not the 1885.....
Other than the 't' model becoming non-HICAS for 1995, all of the 'downgrades' from 94 to 95 were cosmetic and can be easily restored (no placard on the engine cover, no trunk service manual, no plastic trim over the door holder a- and b- pillar hinge points). yeah i suppose the leather is not as thick on some 95s
One little known upgrade for 95 was that the electronics --all the LAN stuff in particular was improved.

how about shocks? $300+ each from infiniti is about the only ones I can find - I'm gonna roll the dice on a z32 swap and see how it rides.

Shocks: Rock Auto has Monroe struts, front or back for $70-ish each. Sure these are not performance struts, but struts are out there.

EDIT: strangely, Rockauto show these struts for years '90-'93 only. Is there a strut difference for those years or is this just a website error?

I see struts in multiple places right now... just googling them - at least for the 90-93.

and Monroe's are not bad. At least they'll last longer than Tok's.

wow! A 96 with under 50K! Damn, I missed that one. I'll keep my eye out Wes, there is a 93 in NJ on ebay.

I am looking for a lowmi garaged 96. I can't tear myself to use my black on black loemi 96 as a daily driver. I know there must be some 96's lurking in some retired guys garage in Fla. This is the second miss. There was a black on black 95 two years ago in Fla. I hesitated and missed it.

Wes, if you are still looking, I'm thinking of selling my car. I wouldn't call it mint, but with some minor work, it could be. It is low mileage: 1994 Q45 with ~93K miles. Black on Black. I've owned it since 37K miles.

The good: cali custom springs with tokico blues, newish torsion rods and front upper control arms, tranny cooler, remote mount tranny spin-on filter, 18inch FX35 wheels, newly repaired FCPU, newish fuel pump, driver side VC gasket replaced, decent original paint, and tons of new uninstalled parts.

The bad: One knock sensor ohming bad, passenger side VC gasket leaking, a few door dings, dent in trunk lid (have a spare trunk lid that needs to be swapped in), car is stalling when warm under acceleration…I haven't spent time diagnosing it, alternator covered in oil from VC leak and might be on its way out, car has sat for the last 6 months, and some other more minor stuff.

Car is in northern cali. PM for more deets. Will take pics and post them soon.

thanks for posting Jesda - I passed that along to a buddy who might be interested. He specifically likes the silver and a 90 would be exempt from emissions testing where he lives

That one does look nice! I had to google the dealership to get photos, but someone either did a really good job restoring it, or at first glance I believe the mileage. In that climate, I would spend a lot of time looking for rust though...

My 94 has lived outside for 140,000 miles and while there are two little rust spots, it's not a big concern. I am thinking of keeping it. It's more of a beast than the smooth as silk 96s.

I'm thinking about selling mine, I just don't drive it anymore. It's not mint, but it has been passed around NICO. I don't really want to sell it to someone who is going to drive it into the ground and scrap it.

It was owned by Maxnix and MinisterofDoom and I think at least one other NICO member before me. It has custom headers and full exhaust and an 8 way ECU, as well as a 4.11(ish) rear end and a ton of other little things. I've done a lot of suspension maintenance on it kept her running well.

I've been debating what to do with it for months now. If anyone is interested PM me.
