I'm installing 4 infinity reference door speakers in my 2011 rogue, and am wondering which amp to install. 2 are 180 watt, and 2 are 300 watt. I plan on installing a separate amp and sub later on. Basically I'm wondering what amp would be suitable for the door speakers? I am also putting in a pioneer dvd head unit.

IIRC the Reference series handle roughly 100 watts RMS and 80 RMS respectively. You'd want something that can do around 400 watts RMS @ 4ohms, so 100 per channel. It doesn't HAVE to be 100 per channel but that would be your ideal goal.

I like the MB Quart 4 channels, cheap clean power. My friend is running this gem in his WRX.

It looks and sounds good, 80watts per channel @ 4 ohms.

You're looking when the new 2013 models are coming out though, so some of the prices will vary. This is the 2013 4x100 MB Quart, no pic yet.

Any advice on whether to leave the bass boost on or off to the infinity speakers? Has a little button on them that says +3dB

in my VERY brief stereo knowledge, id leave it off. adding more bass, will take away from the actual volume capabilities. some people are fine listening to their music at a lower volume, as long as the bass is thunderous. id rather have crisp, clean loud sound. lets see what Rdub has to say

I'm gonna assume the +3db is on a crossover for components? If it is then it's not really a bass boost, but a way to equalize volume between tweeter and woofer. If that's not where the +3db is at then ignore this statement ;)

Personally, I don't run bass boost on Amps period. Most of the time the amps distort the signal "boosting" the bass and you end up clipping speakers. This usually leads to muddy/distorted sound and shorter speaker life. You can run the Infiniti's in full range on the amp, no need to run the high-pass filter without a subwoofer yet.

If your headunit has a Equalizer, i'd take advantage of that to mess with your bass settings. You won't get amazing sub bass below 50hz without a subwoofer, but it'll have some punch to it.

Lemme know where that +3db button is, I'm interested :)

The button is directly on the non-component speaker. Right in the center of the speaker. I agree I like my sound more clean and crisp, and I plan on adding a w7 or 2 in the future. Fyi, I bought a 1200 watt pioneer amp, rated at 500 rms I think.

Also, the center where the button is, is positioned at an angle, so you can direct the sound either up or down, depending on how it's installed. I'm assuming I should aim them up?

Any chance can you post a model # of the speaker? I want to look it up so I can give you more accurate advice :)

Nevermind I looked it up. I'm assuming this.

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_189 ... 632cf.html

It's a tweeter level adjuster. If you install the speaker and you feel your highs are not as balanced as they should be, you can flip the switch to add +3db's of power to the tweeter. Being behind a door panel/grill, it might be a good idea to turn it on, but it's all personal preference.

Tweeters should be facing towards the passengers. If the 6x9 is mounted at diagonally like the door shape, point the tweeter towards the driver to get the best sound.

Pioneer makes good amps. Post up that model # too so I can check it out :)

I think my speakers are 9602, instead of 9632, will check when I get home from work.

Those aren't bad at all. Nice pickup.

But as far as the +3db goes, u might have to install it first to decide if u want the +3db or not.

Ok cool thanks for the info. Can you suggest a wire size for the app?

Well the amp itself takes a 4gauge power/ground wire. You said you were planning on running a separate amp for the subwoofer, so you might want to look into a 1/0 dual amp kit, or a 2 gauge amp kit. I like running Knukonceptz wires as they're cheap and flexible.

http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetai ... D=KFX-PK20

It just needs speaker wire and RCA cables.

4 channel RCA's
http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetai ... =KARSS4.6M

Subwoofer RCA's
http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetai ... =KARSS2.6M

4 channel speed wire for hooking up door speakers + amp remote turn on (Run wires from the amp back up to your headunit area. Connect to aftermarket harness, color match. Tape away speaker wire coming from deck).

I guess I have 1 more question; For the rogue, and a JL w7, ported or sealed box? Wood, fiberglass?

The W7 is a beast of a sub... you want boom? Go ported. Definitely a wood box. What's cool is the W7 is so well known, people make boxes specifically for them so you don't have to.

Decent one there. Wood just sounds better IMO. What amp are you gonna power the W7 with? I have a few I can recommend ;)

Yea I haven't thought about the amp yet, what would you suggest? I'm thinking of a single 12"
Also, will I have to upgrade my battery?

The W7 is an odd beast as that it's a single voice coil 3ohm subwoofer. There are no 3 ohm amplifiers available. If you can find one that puts out roughy 1000 or so watts at 4 ohms then you can take advantage of it. The downside is most amps are really expensive around that power range... I'll see what I can find.

This isn't bad, just expensive :\

You can use one of these too. I used to have one, loved it. Ran it at 0.5 ohms daily hahaha.

http://www.soundqubed.com/Q1-1200D-Amplifier_p_30.html

I'm estimating anywhere between 950-1000 watts RMS @ 3 ohms with that amp.
