Hey, I'm a newbie so.... go easy on me. I just drove a 2012 gray G37X coupe yesterday, liked it alot. The car only has 23,500 k on it, looks like new and carfax shows only one owner that was serviced by a local infiniti dealer . Carfax also shows that this car has been for sale on this dealers lot for over a year and has never sold. I find that a bit strange. After driving it I questioned the dealer about how long they'd had it. Sure enough , since 08/2013... Car has been setting a long time. They had it priced at $28,500 for a long time and now it is at $25,800 . I haggled with the salesman over the price and the length of time they'd had it. I offered $22 k and he said that $23,500 is the lowest they'll take. I left without buying it,now after coming home and looking at NADA,KBB, and Edmunds looks like I should re-consider. I don't like the fact that it has been sitting for so long, why? , not good for a car. Do the coupes not sell very easy? Puzzled. I'm also condsidering a Lexus IS250, have not drove it yet. I've never owned a Nissan/Infiniti , mainly Honda/Toyota ,but ..... I LOVE the looks of this car. Should I jump on this deal?

A coupe is a very impractical vehicle that's why.

For that price, if it were a southern car, I would buy it. Is it near CLT???? :gapteeth:
See how much warranty is left. It's base on the in service date.
Make sure that you know based on the owner's manual it requires prem. gas.
And, it does not get very good gas mileage, but they are great drivers!!
Most people don't buy them to save money on gas anyway......many other options available.
Check back in and let us know!!

Well, I am now a G37x owner!!! Bought that car I was talking about in the prior post yesterday. However, it was NOT that easy. The salesman that I was dealing with, reeled me in with that $ 23,500. His boss the infamous " Used sales car manager" wouldn't approve that deal. But, after a long aggravating haggle, I came up to $ 24,500 , which still wasn't a bad deal.
2012 shadow gray coupe, black interior, 23,595 miles.... looks like new. Love it. Let my wife drive it today, she loved it,her first comment, "it has lots of pep" .... that's an understatement. After driving that Lexus IS250, it's like comparing the turtle to the hare!! Hope to have several years of trouble free driving, all the reviews I've read refer to this 3.7 as "Bullet proof" . Don't know just how true that is , but, I'm about to find out. I'm planning on running Mobil 1 full synthetic in it... for now. Unless I get steered in some other direction. :chuckle:

Glad you found one you liked. You should have no issues in Cincy snow with it either :)

Congrats!

I myself just recently bought myself a 2013 G37XS

I gotta say the difference between regular X and the XS is like night and day to me. From what I understand the S has better bucket seats, upgraded brakes, paddle shifters and bigger wheels. But this car is still a beast!

Cool!!! :dblthumb:
I've been running M1 syn in all of our Nissans/Infinitis for years and have been happy!!!
I do stick with the Nissan OEM filter.

Congrats!

We were looking at the 2013 Xs earlier this year as well but settled on a Q50s.

Actually, I have a similar question to the original poster. I'll be looking at a used G37 coupe in the next year or so, I've spent time in an '08, the first year. LOVED IT!

Just want to know if there are certain issues to look for, certain years or options to avoid, how is long-term durability/reliability, things like that. How is the X on durability? How are repair costs?

I've owned two Acura Integras from '89 to '09, put over 300k on them combined (bought the second one with 155k on it) and was super impressed with how long everything lasted. Replaced one alternator, one starter, one clutch, two distributors, one wheel bearing and a couple control arms between the two of them. That's all for "major" stuff that I recall, normal wear items of course wore out but everything else just plain worked forever.

I'm hoping for reliability/durability along those lines. This would be a second car and I'd look for the youngest with the least miles I could afford.

Thanks!

I looked at different cars for about 6 months before I decided on the G37x. Did LOTS of research, blog reading, edmunds,car/driver and other reviews and wasnt able to find much of anything bad about this car. Only real complaints I saw was about downshifting in the transmission , which I've had none of. All the engine reviews were great. My only words of advice would be as a general rule, I dont buy the first model year of ANY car, that's always the one with the most problems/complaints , although this car didnt have many that I found even in the 08 model.By the 3rd or 4th year of any model the engineers have usually found and worked the bugs out. You may want to look at a website called carcomplaints.com before you buy any car. This is just one website I look at for problems. You can pretty much find any car any model on this site and see complaints about it. Of course like anything you may want to take it with a grain of salt when you see some complaints, some of the people who post arent the sharpest tools in the shed. You wont find many complaints about the g37 on there, but, there are a couple. Take your time deciding
