Ok, so I was driving around today and at some point I started getting a loud buzz from the stereo. I turned off the stereo and part if the buzz went away, but now I can hear some sort if motor running in the back hatch.

I also noticed the ABS light is on. I stopped the car and shut it down and pulled the key, but some motor ( in the ABS actuator) was still running. I waited 20 minutes and it didn't stop. I tried to find a fuse for ABS, but could t find one. At this point, I'm worried about the {whatever it is} draining my battery so I removed the cover in the trunk from the abs actuator And pulled the top (of three) electrical connectors and the motor sound stopped.

So... WTF?? 1) what does that connector connect to? 2) why might it start doing this. 3) is my car sort of safe to drive (just without ABS)???

Try bleeding those nipples on the ABS actuator/pump. Someone said they fixed it by doing this, because there's a pressure switch that tells the pump (ecu, then pump) when to shut off. If the pressure is too high it won't switch off.

If that doesn't fix it, then there should definitely be an ABS fuse in the DS kick panel.

I'm not sure if it was 93 or 94 that they removed the bleed nipples on the pump though. If you don't have them, you'll need to find a gravel road and do some sliding stops to pump the fluid through. If that still doesn't do it, then the controller is bad and you'll need to either replace it or pull the fuse.

Just an update...

I didn't have to do anything.. after the connector was reconnected the next day, the pump didn't come back on and it's been fine since.

Sounds like it had air in the lines and removing the connector allowed to pump the fluid through and get the pressure back right in there. Glad to hear it's fixed, though!
