Before reviewing, I just want to say thanks to BC Racing, mainly Pete, for his outstanding customer service and doing things out of his way at times. They will help you until they fix your problem or whatever it may be. Just be patient with them and they will reply back.
Also before reviewing, I just want to say I had tested these new rear shock cartridges for about 2 weeks on many different roads from the worse to the best, street or freeway.
My experience with the old rear shock cartridges created a lot of bounce and harsh ride. Below is my new thoughts on the new rear cartridges which are 20% less valved.
Initial driving impressions: Noticeably less bouncier, comfortable, and street friendlier. You could just tell right off the bat it dampened and rebound how it was suppose to. Instead of having that back crusher feeling where your back felt like it was going to give out. Now it feels like it will absorb the uneven surface and stay planted to the ground without that rear bounce.
Note: The spring rates were not changed and still are the 7k/7k.
Dampening/Rebound: I have tried various dampening settings; and out of all the settings, I liked 16F and 20R the best. When using a lower dampening(0-10) settings it dampened good/okay and did its job, but when having it so low, the stiffness/rebound kicks in so fast that its creating harsh ride at times. Using a very high dampening/rebound(24+) setting is just too stiff for the car in my opinion and is only meant for great roads(track or autocross). Its so stiff that I don't believe the car can handle it as the Altima is not a rigid car to begin with. Use with caution. With that all being said, I recommend using a dampening setting in between 12-22 with the dampening higher in the rears until you find your likings, everyone has their own preference.
Overall driving impressions: Overall I am satisfied with the coilovers. This is the way they should of came from the factory. The new rear shock cartridges are 20% less valved and now feels more balance with the front.
For those who don't know, I had the Tein SS coilovers for my Altima coupe as well. So if I were to compare the BC Racing with the Tein SS. I would say they are just as up to par with the Tein's, but I still feel the Tein's are a slight better when it comes to street friendly. But the BC Racing just has a few features that I liked over the Tein's especially the front pillow ball mount, top mounts, and the fully adjustable height adjustment, and its less expensive. I have said this before, BC Racing best bang for your buck coilovers.
New buyers, I recommend requesting your rear shock cartridges to be 20% less valved. I am not sure if they will be in the new production. They will be gladly to customize your coilovers to your likings though but is limited to what you can choose from i.e. spring rate and valving.
I may have left some information out since I did this review quick since it was such long due. I thank everyone for their patience for those who were interested. If anyone has questions or concerns feel free to post here or PM me.
Thanks
