ABS system malfunction

ABS system malfunction

Postby TexasDali » Wed Jun 27, 2012 3:57 pm

I have a 2008EX35 with 28,000 miles that is currently in the service department. Last week, while driving, all the warning icons (except for service engine) lit up on dash, the speedometer quit working & GPS locked up. I couldn't detect anything unusual about how the car drove. Stopped car & restarted - everything normal. Went to local Nissan dealer to see if computer could tell them anything, all looked good, no problems. Made appointment with Infiniti (90 miles away) & on way there, same thing happened! They had never seen that before but after 3 days & calls to tech line seems there is an electrical problem coming from the ABS system. Will have to be replaced, reprogrammed & will cost about $2300! Has anyone heard of this? Worried about all the other electronics on this car. Advise?

Funny in an odd way... adds up to about $100 extra per 1000 miles.
They told u all that with a straight face. :tisk:
Have u had the brakes worked on because this is about the mileage:
1>>> The rear pads start to wear down.
2>>> Then the fluid gets low in the reservoir.
3>>> Then the system starts to flash lights on the dash when the fluid sloshes around in there.

Try topping off your brake fluid and having your brakes checked before taking this any further on your wallet.

Just had work done on rear brakes about 5 weeks ago. Also had my GPS updated. This is turning into such a mess! It will also take about 2 weeks to get the parts they need. Only good thing is I have a loaner vehicle. Decided to get it fixed cuz thinking about trading it for EX37 coming out in August. Really love this car otherwise!

How did u update your GPS?
Yourself with disk or at dealer?

The fact that the GPS locked up is my hint that all is not well in this area.
I would lay that blame on them squarely at their feet and let them reprogram your system.

If in fact your ABS module is bad my boyfriend mentioned a low mile car like yours might have deposits within the module from not circulating the brake fluid by:

1) The car not being driven.
2) The brake fluid not being flushed.

The contacts within the module can be cleaned but Infiniti would most likely NOT take the responsibility to do that when it is far easier for them (expensive for u) to just swap out the ABS module.

Either way it is a warranty repair and u shouldn't have to pay for it.
Did you take a peek at your brake fluid level it should look like mine here filled to the max:
