As the topic says, I am about to but an HID kit. I need an H3C bulb. I just want some advice here.

-Where should I buy from? I am in Canada, so if anyone knows of a site from Canada, that would save me the pain of duties and some shipping.

-6000k 35watt OR 8000k 55watt? Or is there some other configuration that you would recommend over these?

Thanks guys!

since you have the JDM headlights i wouldn't know where to find an HID kit that has those H3C bulbs. but i do know that the H3 bulb can fit in there. my friend has the JDM headlights and replaced his bulbs with H3 halogens. just throwing that out there. i know that H3 bulbs are grounded to the clip that holds the bulb in the socket, but HID bulbs wouldn't be wired that way so my guess is an H3 HID setup would work. don't quote me on it, but it would be something to try.

and i would stick with a 35w ballast.

I have a 92 not sure if it will help but my setup is the 9006 for lowbeams and I ordered a 6000k 35 watt from lightwerkz.net I'll vouch for them great product installed In like Literally 3 minutes it and play then mounted the ballast. Great product and fast shipping. Hope I helped take it easy hope you find a kit for your needs!

right. the US headlights use a 9006 low beam and the JDM headlights use the H3C low beam. why nissan made them different is beyond me.

http://www.vvme.com Ive ordered 3 times from these guys and am very happy about it, they are the company that actually makes like 60% of the ebay HID kits, these are also pretty decent kits, its really hard to distinguish the nice ones from the crap ones until you've held a crap one. 35W is enough, if you want extreme brightness and dont mind paying the littlebit extra then 55W FTW as far as color thats just personal preference, I like 6000k myself.

OK, I ordered a kit yesterday from that VVME place. I think I will be mounting my ballasts under the nose panel on the sides.

I mounted mine right under the headlights, on top of the frame that the bumper support mounts into, (I got xentecs on my Z too haha) that was the first kit I ever bought before I discovered VVME.

p.s. don't mount your ballasts in the same place i did. i don't even know why i put those pictures up lol. like a moron i covered up the diagram on the fuse box. the ballasts won't be there much longer though, i'm doing an HID retrofit with some TSX projectors (still need to get these) and i already have ballasts and bulbs from an Altima.

I did my conversion with TSX Projectors a couple years ago.Far better than any HID kit I've seen. This is the second car I've put HIDs in. The first car I put Mercedes E55 AMG BiXenon Projectors in my 1982 Datsun 200SX.

Here are some pics of the headlight for my 300

Here you can see I painted the inside chrome ring around the projector because there was way too much upward glare with it being chrome. The flat black has been extremely durable and has held up well for the past 2 years.

I extensively modified the housing of the TSX projector to fit properly. You don't see it, but at the back of the 300ZX housing, where I cut it open to fit the TSX projectors, I made some fiberglass buckets and sealed the ends with high temp double sided tape to keep out moisture.

How did it connect up to the 300z wiring since it was from a Mercedes? Im not familiar on how HID conversions work.

The setup in my 300 is not from a Mercedes. The projectors are from an Acura TSX, and the bulbs and ballasts are from a Subaru WRX STI. At least the ballast is what the seller says. The G35 coupe has the same ballasts but I've never seen the ballasts on another WRX STI.

There are two wires that provide 12 volts to the ballast. There are two wires that provide 12 volt to the stock bulb. What I did, was took the positive from the Ballast and hooked it to the positive of the cars lighting harness. Then I ran the negative of the ballast to the ground of the car. That allows me to have the high beams and the low beams running at the same time if I so desire. If I hooked it up directly, my HIDs would turn off every time I flashed or turned on my high beams (big no-no)

Other than that, there's nothing more than that.

hell yeah man, that's exactly what i want to do. it looks like it swaps in pretty cleanly. i might ask you for some advice when i get around to doing it. how much cutting did you have to do would you say?

It does not swap in cleanly at all. The mounting holes for the projectors sit in mounting brackets that extend very far out. I had to cut most of the brackets around the holes, with the greatest cuts being to the bottom left and bottom right of the projectors.

The entire back of the stock 300ZX housing was cut out. I spent hours test fitting and measuring to get the projectors to sit with the least amount of glare from the bezels. I had to make 4 custom brackets and modify four of the existing ones to be able to adjust the projector in the housing now.

This is an example of some of the work I do, and it's on one of my sloppier projects. I can't say that it will be as straightforward and clean for anyone else if they expect to just bolt up a set in there. It is far from a "bolt in" job.

How much do you charge? Im looking at getting some like this but with different projectors. Ide rather pay someone that knows how to do it than for me to screw up a bunch of headlights trying to figure out how to make it work.

I appreciate the offer. Unfortunately I won't be doing very much that's car related for the next few months.I have some pretty big projects in the works that eats up all my time after work. If you're still interested by April and haven't yet found anyone, please feel free to contact me. You have my email. I should be relatively free by then.

Sorry to rehash an old thread but I just want to make sure...A stock JDM 300zx uses a H3C hid bulb and not a 9006?

Yep, JDM lows are H3C, fogs are H3.
