And to add to the fun after my Megan Coil over debacle, I get into the car and the radio is DEAD!! The mechanic checked and the fuse is fine and there is power going in. Anybody else have this happen, just completely dead??

On my 1994 Q45a the radio doesn't always work but that was after I had it on the passenger side floor board. I took a turn too fast and it hit something and never worked right ever since. Its okay as it had a round display not a flat one.

My other radio that came installed in that car had a display that rarely worked but the radio worked 100% of the time. The car had 230K.

On my 1993 Q45 the radio turns on and off sometimes. But thats due to a loose fuse in the interior fuse box. I wanted to replace the whole fuse box but after 6 years of ownership I just twist the fuse and its good for about a year. The contacts are loose in the fuse box though.

Is the radio in your car the same as a G20 or J30?

A fuse not on the driverside kick-panel???? So I would have to pull the radio or can you reach around the back??? It is completely dead but we traced the relay and kickpanel fuse and confirmed they are good and getting power.

look in fsm to be sure, but I recall some of these did have a fuse on the back of the radio case itself also.

I will, thanks qship. I was planning to get a new radio but with the suspension issue still lingering not sure. They have a $199 Alpine double-DIN radio that can stream bluetooth off your phone, give you hand-free calling etc for about $350 installed. I was so sick of CD's and AM/FM radio.

I just installed that model in my '12 Frontier several weeks ago.

It's not perfect by any means, but it's a nice unit for the money. The blue display will look right at home in your Q.

I'd be curious about what that installation includes. Getting the original Bose speakers to play nice with an aftermarket radio ain't easy!

qship, I owe you thanks! Ski, that is the exact unit I think I saw at the shop where I got my AppRadio installed in my XTerra, which BTW, ain't perfect either but it is sort of fun having Waze and Google Maps on the screen from my Samsung Galaxy 5. This unit is $199 and the installation is actually not that bad anymore as they have a Bose transfer gizmo that cost about 40 bucks and can enable you to use the Bose setup with the new head unit. I would rather the nice display that AppRadio has but don't want to spend $450 on the unit plus the other expenses. I can get out for under 400 and stream Pandora and Sticher which is awesome.

Now if I can just fix the damn strut problem I am having the Q can run another 5 years!!

BadQ,

I have a Bose head unit and speakers from my '98 that I'd be happy to part with.

email me at [email protected] if you're interested.

Thanks, I just put a Pioneer AVH-X36000BHS into the car, now I have streaming Bluetooth audio, hands-free wireless cell, and I have to say it sounds better than the original head unit.
