My driver's side rear deck speaker is making the dreaded but expected for this era car with paper coned speakers flutter/flapping noise. My ? is being these are Bose amplified do I have to replace the whole deal/speakers & amp or can I plug & play some upgraded rear deck different branded speakers.

Thanks

it is an amplified mid-bass. find a 2 ohm high sensitivity 6x9 and swap the speaker only. I would suggest going with a 2-way as opposed to 3 way.

but, bear in mind that the speaker amp boards on these are notorious for leaky electrolytic capacitors that leads to cracking, distortion, and so on. they can be fixed in most instances

It might be worth seeing if Bose will still rebuild them... they used to be pretty reasonable, and their service included a new amp and speaker cone.
