Hi Everyone! I have a question for all you Nissan people out there. I have a 96 Nissan Pathfinder 4WD with close to 200k miles on it. I am moving from NV to TX in a few weeks. And I am wondering if I should fly or drive. I have a lot of stuff that I want to bring so I am more inclined to wanting to drive, but my car has an oil leak, and a slight transmission problem; plus it needs new tires. So knowing what you know, would you personally take the risk to travel 2000 miles to Texas in this car? Or would you sell it and then fly down to TX and find a new car? If I do sell it, I was thinking of selling it for about $2500. I need major advice, I am stuck in a pickle. Thanks for your help!

How slight is the oil leak (i.e. how many quarts per 1,000 miles)?

What is the transmission problem?

What is the tread depth of the tires?

Welcome to NICO.

I would have all the "due" fluids changed, join AAA, bring two cell phones, two cans of fix a flat ( tires too big for 1 can) and stick to main roads.

Be carefull with your oil leak.. I once sold my car disclosing that it went though a quart of oil a month. What I did not realize was that I only drove 300miles a month so it was actually burning oil quite quicky and the buyer had to add a quart everytime he stopped for gas....

Where in Texas are you heading? <--- Lives in Houston
