Hey guys, This is my first post... How hp friendly are these cars? At what power level does the transaxle fail? short block? What are the upgrade options? I know this is an open ended question but I am only familiar with muscle car options... i.e. ford 9" rear with 4l80E auto or T56 manual.

Reason I ask is my wife has a '95 240 SX SE that just feels more nimble than my bird due to its lower weight and better suspension. I am just contemplating boosting the power

Thanks a lot,Andrew

With an auto your kinda limmited with aftermarket support. No one make's anything like a torque converter or any auto tranny parts. the motor good for lots of mods just depends on were you want to go with it.

So the short block is completely forged steel? Can it rev to 8000 rpm on nothing but better valve springs? who on here has broken a KA24DE and how much power/torque did it take to do it?

Thanks a lot,Andrew

the only thing forged in a KA motor is the crank you will need to replace the lower end for a solid turbo motor, but I have seen 14psi on stock internals so it is possable just not stable.

It can run a consistant low 15 I have broken the 14's with it. the best was 14:86 at 91MPh on 105 octane.
