Having issues resolving this. Was driving and noticed the temp gauge spike. Pulled over ASAP and shut it down. Blew out the plastic in the top of the radiator.

Since then, I've replaced the radiator, water pump, & thermostat. Just got back from a test drive after latest "Fix" and still overheating! Not sure where to go from here.

As I've replaced parts, the heater has worked intermittently, so one step I did was to bypass the heater core and directly connected the two hoses for heater core. No help.

After swaping out the water pump and thermostat, the heater now works great, but still overheating.

Any ideas where to go?

Thanks for any tips.

Jason

I'd suggest clutch fan as well. Had the exact same problem on my 1990 240. Changed everything short of the fan with no luck. Friend of my dad's suggested the fan. Got a new clutch assembly from NAPA, changed it...bam! Problem solved.

Well, after motor crapped out, bought a crate motor and got that put in yesterday. Was still trying to run a little warm. I ended up removing one heater core hose and just connecting the other hose where it went, temp is great after driving to work today. I think when I connected them the first time, the tube I used to connect them was restricting the flow to much. Will wait till winter to install the new heater core...
