Once back, it turned out the SR20DE cam position sensor was the problem and I ordered a new one from Nissan. Along with a fresh K&N air filter, oil/filter change and cleaning out the entire induction system (you wouldn't believe how much muck and mud got in there), the 200SX was much improved. I added a set of new NGK V-Powers at the end of the year to the equation and it runs great!
One thing that bothered me was the paint- this B14 has been a racecar from day one. It's earned more race wins (and contingency money) than just about any Nissan racecar out there and seen as much action as well. As the third owner, I noticed the paint was not the best quality and was more representative of Earl Schieb's bargain paint job. After it faded completely this past summer, I decided it was time.
I've found a good painter who works out of his garage and am having him repaint the entire B14 in factory paint (Ultra red). He's taken the better part of two weeks to disassemble, clean, prime and paint the car, but I'm looking forward to seeing the results!
