I am currently experiencing an engine miss that seems to illude me and my mechanic. I have replaced the engine and all but the miss still seems to come and go as it pleases. The distributer and the air intake are from my original engine, could it be the distributer the coil pack or something in the intake? All the tune-up parts are new. Everything else came with the engine. It seems to do it more often when it is cold also but it has been known to do it when it is warm also. I also have platnium 4's in it. I have gotten mixed reviews on these spark plugs. Could they be the problem also? Help if you can thanks in advance. LueWhat could the miss be?

Just from what it sounds like if you are still having a miss with the new engine like you were the old one, and if the only things off the old engine are the intake and distributor, my guess would be that is the problem, but I would not know if it were something specific to them. I am not sure about the spark plugs though. I am not too famialiar with the Platinum 4's.

Change the plugs to NGK's.Thats your cheapest try at a fix for now. Also have you tried posting this to our online mechanic section?

Which engine do you have??? The VG30E does not like platinum plugs.

Also, the distributor is detrimental to the ignition timing, which is likely the cause of an engine miss... so maybe you should check that?! Also, check the injector tick, and the gap on the plugs.
