89 truck dies while driving

Hi guys, like the title says. I just got this truck and I'm a noob when it comes to them. The truck runs excellent and feels strong, but it died on me 2 times the same day. The problem seems to "fix" itself after I let it be for some time (1hour or so). Thank you in advance.

Not that this helps you but my 2002 exterra is doing the same thing. My codes are reading bad knock sensor and catalytic converter. Does that make sense to anyone that those things would be related to this issue? This happened to me a month ago, then after filling the tank and adding some gas additive everything seemed fine? I had to get towed home last night however.... To the poster have you gotten your codes checked?

It doesn't have a cat and I don't know if you can read codes in an 89 (note that I'm new to trucks and Nissans). But I can tell you the second time it died was right after hitting a pothole. Could it be a relay that gets disconnected or something?

With it running tap the ecm and see if it dies. If it does I would say thats it. Also check you connections under the
hood and make sure they are tight.

Now it dies after a few minutes. It will only restart after a few hours of rest. I took the bed out and run it until it died and I noticed the fuel pump stopped working right before it went dead. I wanted to check if the fuel pump is getting power, but there are several wires going into the connector. I will like to know if anyone knows the wire codes to verify the pump is getting power. thanks.

I would check to see if it gets spark before tearing into the fuel system. If it appears so, spray some stater fluid down the TB while cranking. If it runs only while spraying, you've ruled out the ignition system and can focus on fuel.

I ruled out spark because I had my finger on the rubber fuel line coming out of the tank and I heard and felt the pump stop right before the truck died.

Update... It was the fuel pump that was bad. I replaced it and I have been daily driving it for about a week now. Thanks guys.
