89 240sx rough idle

hey guys so i am having a rough idle problem with my car i have been driving my car all day i went to see a movie and after the movie the car was shaking real bad and sounded differently i thought it would be something with the spark plug wire they all look fine it also lack power so not sure if i should change the plug wires out or not the wires them self are almost a year old the plugs are about the same any ideals would be great

check your compression, tps and or maf.

i clean my maf not too long ago and how would i cjeck my tps

While idling if your step on the gas and it seems to hesitate before reving up, it's an air intake leak usually the curved intake boot. You won't be able to see the hole until you take it out and flex it.

Checking for a fouled plug doesnt' sould like a bad idea either.

i have the same problem, well. did.. it went away, not sure why. but i think it is coming back, so ill be checking in on this thread.

i was told it might be gunk clogged in the fuel filter? idk, just an idea.

okay guys i did so work on my car and it is a bad injector i test it by disconnecting one injector at a time to see it there was any changes in the car when i did the first one there was no change at all so where is the best place to buy new injector

What i'd do first is replace the spark plugs and the spark plug wires as well as the adapter.

Occasionally one of my spark plug wires would fall out of it's socket and the car would idle like a bull.

Since you figured out which cylinder is not firing, your should check the spark plug first before changing the injector. If it is the spark plug, it's easier and cheaper to replace

Had the same issue, same solution... Infact same injector went, I'd check compression if I were you. My head gasket blew a week after i put the new injector in

so i fix the problem it was a bad injector lucky i had got a few when i bought the car i forgot about them
