Hey guys, I'm building a 89 240 with my 16 year old son for his first car. We found our 240 in a barn for $500 that had been setting for 10 years, the car is mint and a coupe. We have completly rebuilt the Ka24e with machine work and new internals, rebuilt head with bigger cam. Now the fun part, the fuel tank was half full and after 10 years of setting it turned to varnish. So we are going to put a fuel cell with braided lines and external walboro 255 pump. This is going to be done in our drive way with a set of race ramps to get it off the ground. I searched for information to help us but had no luck finding any. So i will be posting pictures and information along our jurney so other guys can learn from our mistakes and triumphs. So yesterday we dropped the old tank and removed all the lines. There are three lines, supply, return and evap. We did leave the evap line in the engine bay so we didn't have to run extra fuel line. We ordered a 16 gallon cell from summit for $129 (part numbers coming) We are ordering 6 an braided fuel lines in summit brand 20ft for $79. 20ft is enough to do supply and return. Im checking to see if we can eleminate the evap line to save us from buying another 10 ft. That is as far as we have gotten so far, I will post more in a few days. Any sugestions are welcome. also we are looking for a down pipe for the Ka24e if anyone has one for sale.

When I had the head rebuilt I told the guy we were going to turbo it and he suggested the cam. Not sure what he put in but I will find out and let you know. Thanks. I wanted to keep the sigle just to be different!!

I've got a 240 that I race circle track, with a fuel cell.

I just used the stock fuel pump, inside the fuel cell, by bolting it to the inside of the filler ring, and drilling one extra hole in the cell for the return line. Been racing it since 2003, about 20 races a year, no problems yet.

this thread will be awesomesauce! oh and welcome to nico by the way! ;) enjoy your stay.. PROPS TO YOU for keeping your single cam... i might have kept mine and rebuilt but the head was warped and cracked, piston no 3 had a hole in it. and who knows what else... so i swapped in a twin cam ka. now im in the process of tearing that down now for headgasket replacement.

good luck on the car and your son ;) one lucky bastard kid i tell you lol. my dad never helps me on my car and i work on his cars all the time!

Did you order the AN line yet? If you can, get the AN line with teflon in it, the regular line will seep gas fumes out.

Fuel cells arent bad to do... I suggest a 12 gallon, I use an 8 gallon and its too damn small.

Oh and you wont find a sending unit to match the OEM gauge, your going to have to use something aftermarket.

Aftermarket gauge? Any suggestions? Did you put in a plastic or aluminum cell?

Great start from the sound of it.

Plastic 8 gallon with foam, and I use the stock filler location or swap to lock top as needed.

Nice! I wish I had the tools to do it like that. I did meet someone that said he would help, he's a fabricator. So it might turn out out better then I thought it would. Did you use the evap line or eleminate it? How many feet of fuel line did you use. Thanks

Feed and return at bottom of cell to the FPR mounted right infront of the sump. Out of feed into inline pump, into FPR, out of FPR return to the sump. Out of the FPR to the filter to the filter to the balancer on the rails... It's not a Nissan engine, no evap.

It would be if it had doors and ran. Nice quote! But that's how we learn, research it, then wrench it. So I found out last night I can eliminate the evap line, and egr. Here in North Carolina OBD1 is safety inspection only! Thanks to all the feedback guys. Posting more pics today.

here are some pics of the engine bay and under the back after we removed the fuel tank. Fuel lines and and pump on the way. New custom 3 inch exhaust being made. Leaving the stock manifold for now because it is going to get a turbo soon.
