Hey guys,

New to this board. I have wanted a rogue for a while now and it looks like I will be buying one with my Obama money that I am getting back from taxes!

I want a 6 disc CD player. Our rogue will not be a daily driver so I am planning on buying a S. The sales man said I cannot have a 6 disc player in the S but I could buy one from a pick a part type place and put it in and it would work. Is this true? I searched the forums and found some saying yes, and some saying no. I don't want the bose radio, I want the 6 disc player which is a step below the bose radio.

Thanks for the help!

Obama money means your in the USA, but the 6-disc CD player is only available in Canada. So its kinda no. But you can find a after market multi-cd player and install that.

Welcome to the NICOClub Rogue forums radius!

Casperfun is correct... but here are the details:

- Your base model radio cannot be swapped with the 6 disc player available as part of the BOSE system (SL Premium Pack). There is a considerable amount of wiring, amplifiers, speakers, etc required to make this work. This is well beyond what most DIY'ers are capable of and the cost would be prohibitive.

- Canadian Rogue's came with a mid-level audio with a six disc changer. This can be directly swapped into any Rogue with a base model radio. However the difficulty is finding one used. There are only a small handful of Rogue's with this option in Canada and it will be very difficult to find a used one. You could purchase new from a Canadian Nissan dealer... at considerable expense. Last I checked, a replacement radio is around $800 US... I don't have Canadian pricing, but it is likely more.

Your most cost effective option is to purchase and install an external multi-disc CD changer. Look for standalone CD changers with either line outputs or an FM modulator. The line output version will require a cable plugged into the AUX jack on your radio, not the cleanest install but the best sound quality wise.

Good luck!

Hi Radius...Welcome to the forum! As pointed out by other members, the 6 Disc player from Nissan is not compatible with the S model (without a ton of rework). However you're actually better off buying an aftermarket radio (instead of Nissans 6 CD changer) because the aftermarket models typically have more features, more control and better sound.

While you can shop around for the best price (once you find the changer you want) a good place to start is Crutchfield. By using the "Outfit My Car" option on their website they will narrow down the changers/receivers that will fit your car based on the year Make and Model information you enter, (including if your Rogue comes with the non-Bose factory installed system).

Just as important as getting the right radio/changer (one that will fit the Rogues opening without exceeding the depth of the hole in the dash)... Crutchfield also has all the necessary additional hardware you will need to complete the install. Like:

The Plastic Bezel that fits the radio and the Rogue:

The wiring adapter (necessary to integrate the radio into the Rogues wiring system)

The antenna adapter (makes receiver compatible with Rogues antenna jack)

NOTE: If you buy your changer/receiver from Crutchfield they include all this additional hardware at no extra charge.

I had to do a double take when I saw this headunit... then I realized it was an older Clarion unit... from 2005-2007. Looks nice.

CD changers are fast becoming extinct... for that matter the whole CD media format is. The number of options dwindle each year as digital music has taken over. It easy to see why....

A 10 disc changer can hold roughly 13 hours of music or 200 songs.

An iPod Nano 8GB easily holds 2000 songs, allows searching by artist, title, and very fast access to any track without delays due to changing discs, etc. There are also moving parts or discs to scratch. The downside of course, you need to be at least a little computer savvy to transfer your music to the iPod.

Yep...I have to agree. If I was swapping out a radio or changer today I wouldn't install a CD Player. My entire CD collection is now in MP3 format and I haven't opened a CD case in years. In fact... I now have over 140GB of MP3 files! (I do a lot of trading with my friends and co workers).

Anyway... If I was looking to do an upgrade today... I'd look for a unit with a USB jack to accept a thumb drive, or with an iTune jack, or removable SD Card... or some form of solid state device. As a result you'd have "thousands" of CD's to pick from, no CD's case to handle, and no scratch CD's. It's the wave of the future.

Stupid question here. But is there a radio that accepts SD cards? They already use it for video. A SD card holds digital information just like cd's.

Yes. There are several receivers with SD memory card slots. However, USB is memory stick support is even more common.

ie. Pioneer MVH-P8200BT, has a built in SD card slot:

You need a steering wheel audio control adapter for most aftermarket units to be able to use the steering wheel control, some aftermarket units have the adapter already included.
