320 Generators

Postby dp320 » Thu Mar 29, 2012 8:00 am

I have 4 or 5 generators. The 1300 engine currently installed was switched to a Chevy alternator. As I'm rebuilding my 1200 what are the words of wisdom on whether to use the original generator or make the switch to an alternator?

Where is a good place to have the old generators rebuilt? What are the old generators worth either rebuilt or as cores?

With proper wiring, there is no reason whatsoever to not switch over to an alternator. You might as well draw it up, make sure it all makes sense first before actually doing it, but there is no reason not to.

Yeah, the 1300 engine currently installed was wired for the alternator and had what seems to be an aftermarket bracket, it's not some homemade thing.

What the heck should I do with all the old generators? I guess I could spin them and see if they produce current.
