There is no way to do it. and you don't need it. the system will detect slip, and apply the correct amount of awd torque.jumpin4abeat wrote:So the other day I noticed the AWD lock. Is there a way to actually do as the button says and lock it. If you are going above 25mph it turns off on its own. I like the ability to drive with AWD while on the highway in case I drive into an area that is not plowed and can not avoid it or get down to 25mph. The button should say temporary AWD
We have an incredible SEARCH feature on this forum. Merged with existing thread. Please read the earlier posts in this thread.Brian.Tait wrote:Hi all, my name is Brian. I would like to know if it's possible to make the AWD stay locked in at speeds up to 45mph? 25mph doesn't help when you need little more speed. Any suggestions?

You're in AWD when you first start moving and then the system shifts to FWD and stays there until a slip is detected and then AWD kicks back in. The AWD lock is for when you're covering rough or slippery terrain at a slow speed. If you exceed the max speed (I forget what it is exactly but something like 15mph) it switches back to the AWD Auto mode. The AWD Lock/Auto button is explained on page 5-23 of the owner's manual: https://owners.nissanusa.com/content/te ... manual.pdf
I don't recall a lock button on the Buick Encore I test drove last year. There isn't one on the Honda CR-V nor the Mazda CX-5. Come to think of it, the RAV4 my partner used to have didn't have this feature either.jryka wrote:Do all/most other AWD brands have this lock feature? (Where I live you can drive on the beach, this AWD Lock feature works perfect for that)
