Nissan Engine Designation Help

KA-24-D-E (also ... SR20DET)
+ KA is the Series
+ 24 is the displacement ... 2.4L in this case
+ D is the valve train layout ... D = DOHC ... no letter = SOHC
+ E is the fuel delivery layout ... E = multiport fuel injection

VG33ER - the R designates a supercharger
SR20DET - the T designates a single turbo motor
VG30DETT - the TT designates a twin-turbo motor
Z24i - The i designates a throttle body fuel injected motor

Examples:

KA24E - SOHC 2.4L Fuel Injected
L28 - SOHC 2.8L Carbureted
SR16VE - Variable Valve Lift 1.6L Fuel Injected
MA09ERT - SOHC 0.9L Fuel Injected "Super" or Racing Turbo
