Being a brit, i also take offense to the labeling as ignorant or having disdain for Nissan / Infiniti.
Everyone is entitled to have an opinion, fact-based or not.
May I remind that gentleman that Nissan (new to the UK) is already in the top 10 selling cars in the UK. Not any small accomplishment considering the presence of Ford, VW, and Vauxhall who have been dominating that list for countless years. Also, Infiniti / Nissan has posted record breaking sales for 2011 and has surpassed a milestone 500,000 units produced as of March this year at its Sunderland factory.
I should also note that Infiniti didn't even have a dealership in the UK until Sept 2009 and only the G and very limited units of the EX / FX were available. Infiniti is behind 10 compared to America. That means his M is older than the entire history of Infiniti in England. Infiniti is now opening dealerships at the rate of one every 3 weeks just to keep up with the demand.
As for Nissan?
The Nissan Qashqai ( brit model competing with Kia Sportage and VW Tiguan) and the Juke are among the most successful cars in England. The Nissan Leaf ( stands for: Leading Environment-friendly Affordabe Family car) is now in production at Sunderland and there are over 20,000 charging places already activated and available to Leaf owners in the UK. The Brit Leaf is even used by some police departments in the UK. The Brit Leaf has updates not found in the US model, and a better battery - also made at the the Sunderland battery factory and only available in the UK Leaf. It goes 123 miles (75 on the US version) and re-charges in half the time of the US model.
As for the Brit M?
Only at dealerships in the UK for about 2-3 years in either gas or diesel - the diesel M gets 37 MPG. Cars of this size are predominantly sold in diesel versions in Europe.
My question is: If Brits are ignorant and have a disdain for Nissan and Infiniti, who is buying all these cars?
