Heavy is all relative these days. Its lighter than a 59 Cadillac. Lighter than a 66 Lincoln.

It is a big, powerful, and fast car. 0-60 in 2.9 seconds. Quarters are going to be in the mid to low 11 second range.

Like the R32 before it, the R32 is looked on by lots of people as "heavy". Its funny its the light one now. Fast for its time. Fast compared to its contemporaries.

^ THIS.

Some of us grew up with "heavy" cars that, despite being so-called "musclecars", were lucky to break into the 14's.

Forget the land barges: It's just a tad lighter than an LS6 Chevelle SS.

Yes but none of those cars mentioned go as fast as the GTR. The new cadilac is heavy and fast using the LSA motor which is the same motor in the ZR1 except the cady uses a wet sump oiling system. The new cady also sports 4 doors and little more weight and makes the 0-60 in 4.9, not bad but its not 2.9.

I need to find a new job so I can afford the new GTR

That is pretty dirty, but if they are trying to compete with Porsche again, the outcome maybe a little different this time. 0-60 in the Porsche is 2.6 and tripped the 1/4 @ 10.7/128mph.

Who said 512? They missed it by 18 hp. 530 hp is the number.

The 2012 Nissan GT-R’s advanced VR38DETT 3.8-liter twin turbo V6 now produces 530 horsepower (versus the previous 485 horsepower) and 448 lb-ft of torque (versus the previous 434 lb-ft) – a result of modifying the boost pressure of the turbocharger, valve timing and air mixture ratio, and through reducing intake air resistance by enlarging the inlet pipe diameter. In addition, exhaust air resistance was reduced through use of an enlarged section of exhaust pipe.

And it gets six total colors, all-weather tires, all-weather floormats and backup camera.

Two models, Premium and Black Edition. Floor mats($280) and back up camera($600) are options.
Standard tires are Dunlops SP600 Sport Max. Optional with the cold weather package are the all season tires.

I second this question. I'm guessing it's the new 911 Turbo.

Yes it is the new 911 Turbo. Faster than the ZR1 in the 1/4 but was beaten buy the American Muscle in the corners. The results were completely flipped between those two cars over the years. Normally the vette was the straight line king and the porsche the twisty king. Will definitely be an interesting comparo when they throw the 12' GT-R in the mix.

I cannot wait to see that test. I know that the Z06 with all the suspension and carbon fiber weight reduction upgrades falls behind the '12 GT-R in a Motor Trend report on both 0-60, 1/4mi, and a single lap run at Willow Springs.

How odd that the 911 and the vette switched places like that. They need to completely redo the 911 and bring it back down below mammoth size. Something more like the 70's 911's only prettier. hahaha

The new GTR makes 538 horespower. I just rode in one a few days ago as we got 3 in for sale here at work. I didnt time the 0-60 time but i can easily believe 2.9 secs. CONSIDERABLY faster than older models. They honestly drive themselves, with rev match , etc.

That's a crazy jump. Don't really like those LED lights in the front.
