Hi guys, new to this section of the forums. I own a 2012 altima 2.5s and am thinking about trading up to a new car. The g35 coupe has been catching my eye for a while. I asked some of my friends and they think it's a horrible idea(Issues with engine constantly). So far this has been the car i've been Iooking at. http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/cto/4530212826.html I was wondering if you guys think this is a bad idea, as well as your problems and opinions of the car at this high mileage.

be prepared for an increase in fuel cost!!!
I would actually prefer a low mileage one owner - not modified car.
But, that one looks interesting!! :)

1- Overpriced for an almost 15 year old vehicle
2- Possible questionable modifications
3- Possible vehicle abuse
4- Little or no recourse if the vehicle is not what the seller claims

Save your money and keep your altima

You are not trading up to a new car
Didn't you wonder why it has not sold quickly?

Another option to the Altima is a G25 or G25x, I bought a 2011 G25x with 28k on it for 19,900 about 6 months ago and love it. It has a smaller engine than the G35, and I get 28-30 mpg on the highway if I do not push it hard. It has good power when you need it, and has a level of luxury above the Altima( I also have a 2008 Altima SL). Something to consider versus a 2012 Altima.

I agree with telco here. Too many unknowns with that G to spend 15k on it.

That's not to say getting a G35/37 as an upgrade to an Altima is a bad deal. It just seems that this owner is asking too much money. To me it looks like they want to get all the money back from their modifications done to the car, unfortunately it doesn't work like that. I would still say that 11k is on the high side of reasonable in this situation.

I'm in agreement with the other posters here; the 2012 Altima is a really nice reliable car with the perk of high gas mileage, maybe wait a few years before you move on. If you're really dead set on looking for something more sporty/slightly higher luxury/2-door style car, try to find a 2007/8/9 G35/37 with reasonable miles (hopefully sub 90k) for like $12,000.
