2011 QX56 Daytime Running Lights?

Apparently the 2011 QX56 (and possibly models before it?) doesn't have Daytime Running Lights (DRLs).

I see this as a good safety feature and don't understand why Infiniti left this out (except apparently on the Canadian models?)...

Anyone have any suggestions for either:

1) Dealer modifications to enable the DRLs as on the Canadian models (which lights would this turn on - parking or actual HIDs?)
2) Any aftermarket ideas for LED DRLs and where to mount them - any pictures of people who have actually done this and your install experience (difficult/easy) would be very much appreciated.

Leave the headlight switch on "auto" and the fog lights turned on. Then the lights will automatically turn on and off. I had the same questions and this is what the dealer advised. It works.

I'm not a fan of DRL so I'm glad it doesn't have them as a default. Although I suppose it's too bad you can't run it as an option like on my 5-series BMW. There you can program through the i-Drive whether or not you want your DRLs or not pretty easily.
