The USB and dvd players play only certain movies. I have used a divx converter software and tried converting movies (accoring to the manual's specifications). But still not able to read them. Was anyone able to convert and play movies via usb or dvd drives? I have spent so much time converting and it's driving me crazy!!!!

Greetings from the staff here at NICOclub! We are glad to have you as a new member of the QX56 Forum!

I have the same set up on our G37x. I have never had an issue playing any DVD's in our G37x, or in any other Nissan / Infiniti vehicles I have owned. I am very shocked that you are having issues with the DVD playback, that is puzzling to me. Are these store bought DVD's or are they DVD's you made on your PC?

To be totally honest with you, we have not used the USB to watch any movies yet on our G37x. I will have to play around and let you know what I come up with.

Thank you for your reply. The formats I am taking about are compressed formats. They are different than regular DVDs. I turned all my DVD movies into avi/divx files and stored into an external hard drives (networked). That way the movies can be viewed from any TVs or computers in the house. I was able to play some movies in the car but not all of them. I am looking for the correct way to convert files.

Wow, that is a tough one. You may be far more knowledgeable about this this anyone else! I would assume MPEG format would work. Have you tried that? Sorry if that sounds like something simple, not sure what else to suggest.

I was going to toss a few AVI's and MPEG's on my jump drive and try them out to see if they all work.

Here is a list of what works with AVI/DIVx

I have seen several of these but no one has registered their DIVx account so there is going to be a bit of a learning curve here.

Best advise I can give you is to see can get one of the several AV control unit software updates.

Although what you might be trying to do might never work...I think it is an comparability issue but they do not care for copied movies.

I've been able to playback media files that I've converted and loaded onto a USB key. The original files were in various formats (mostly .mkv). I used a program called Emicsoft MTS Converter that I bought to convert video from my camcorder. It's much more versatile, though, than the name suggests. It pretty much converts any input video into any output format that you could want. After much experimenting, the only way I could get my QX56 to read and play the file was to use the "DivX Video (*.avi)" output setting.

I have not tried loading the video files onto a CDR or DVDR.

Converting files is a crazy option if you have tons of video files like me. My alternative to this involves a jailbroken iPad 2 with (XBMC installed), an iPad/iPod Touch/iPhone composite adapter and a Seagate Wireless Plus 1TB hard drive. Read below.

Needed:

Jailbroken iPad, iPod touch or iPhone with XBMC installed. Note: As of this writing, there is currently no jailbreak available for devices running IOS 6.1.3 OR greater :(

iPod Touch/iPad/iPhone composite video out adapter. I used the Apple branded adapter (model#: MC748ZM/A). $25 on eBay.

Seagate Wireless Plus 1TB Portable Hard Drive. $175 on eBay.

Instructions:

Add the Seagate Wireless Plus as a source to XBMC, in the videos section by selecting "Add Videos">"Browse">"Windows network (SMB)". "WORKGROUP" should pop up if you're connected to the Seagate Wireless Plus via WIFI.

I despise DVDs, so this works great to eliminate the need for them, and also the need to convert all your existing videos. I recommend it to all who are in a similar predicament.

Note: I used an iPad 2, but any i device should work the same. Anyone needing help, just let me know.
