This week I've had the opportunity to drive the latest version of the G coupe. This one is beautifully done in solid red with a stone interior and polished maple inlays. Premium, nav and tech packages make this a formidible luxury coupe with plenty of power, beautiful craftsmanship and polished handling combined. The R-compound brake pads are probably overkill; a $380 option that not every Infiniti owner will want. But I've always admired this second gen FM platform and my wife already enjoys driving the G sedan. So I'm admittedly biased when it comes to evaluating such a vehicle. But I'd put this one up against any comparable teutonic sport coupe in its price range and believe I'd have an advantage...

A 400+ mile road trip through the Colorado mountains only confirmed that the G37xS coupe is a great touring vehicle. I had to restrain myself from unleashing the G37 on several long stretches of highway, but it was the right thing to do. Several state troopers were setting traps on the route to Gunnison and I saw cars like a lime green Camaro SS that weren't so lucky. Come to think of it, my recent experience testing the General AS-03 tires on the Camaro SS gave me think of the differences between the two cars. Ergonomics, sightlines and mechanical refinement are in another dimension with the Infiniti.

The G is a fun car to drive. The more power I get out of mine the more fun it gets. Mountain driving would be fun with the X model....hell, it's fun with RWD and VDC off ;)
