I am looking forward to seeing it.

It has to have awesome styling, and a great engine to be successful!

There has been no pics spy shots or anything released as of yet of the 7th gen. I've heard this a few times of people seeing it but being very secretive about it. There's alot of word that new Intima they debuted at the Tokyo show will most likely be the direction of the new Max:

A lot of speculation abounds.

If the Maxima retains much of the Intima's styling, Nissan might as well have the grave dug and ready. In case Nissan designers didn't notice, massive overhangs and droopy rear ends went out in the '90s. The Intima looks like a Toyota Avalon or a Buick. It's an even more drastic step toward Fogeyville than the already geriatric '07 redesign was. And the fact that it'll likely retain a FWD drivetrain in order to keep from stepping on the G's toes is infuriating. No one in the market for a Maxima wants a G. And no one in the market for a G wants a Max. It doesn't matter which wheel drive either car is. They're entirely different cars.

I'm pretty much as frustrated as I can get with Nissan as far as the Maxima right now. Even if they manage to screw up the new one, I couldn't get much more upset. I wish they'd take a look at what Toyota did in the mid- and late-'90s. It'd serve as a nice mirror to them. Yes, you might sell a million bland front-drivers to moms everywhere. But no one actually WANTS those cars. No one will crave a drive in them. And you certainly won't earn yourself any loyal owners that way. You'll go a long way toward losing some, though.

If we get a FWD Intima lookalike with wood paneling and a CVT I'm going to vomit in Carlos Ghosn's coffee.

Look at those overhangs!!!!!!

One of my friends didn't like my 05 Maximas looks. I thought it was one of the better looking cars I owned. If the 09 comes out looking like that prototype I may buy another one.

FYI, this is not necessarily the 7th gen Maxima, just a new concept with rumblings that they may take cues from this car for the '09 Max...

the big body maxima they r leaning towards should be a hit regardless of design.

its name itself is gonna attract older loyal nissan maxima owners.

the only downside if that its front wheel drive.

Well in that case I'd be happy to take your Maxima off of your hands.

Just let me know when a good time for you is and I'll rid you have your FWD woes for free.

It looks like it could be either or right now. If the image was a little bit higher resolution you could zoom in on the front and see if the half shaft is poking through.

So true...but either way I really think I'm gonna like it.

I think "interests" is a bit of an understatement lol.

Yeah well, like he said, that's the idea of the masking so I doubt it'll have that.

Well yea. It wouldn't really flow with the car that well anyway.

Weeks, actually. The car is supposed to be unveiled at the New York auto show in 2 weeks.
