Hey guys, newbie to board, I didn't see an introduction thread anywhere like some forums have, so starting my first thread with a problem/question.

The car is my girlfriends (2008 Rogue SL AWD), we have been dating for over 3 years and this is the first time this has happened. So last night (about 2:15am), my mom comes into my room to let me know my girlfriends alarm keeps going off. So I grab the keys and run down stairs, but the car wasn't doing anything. Decided to wait like 15 minutes to see if some kids were screwing around. Nothing happened, went back to bed, just fallen asleep and this time I heard it at about 3am, throw some pants and shoes on and run out there. No one in sight, hit the lock button a couple times, it stops, wait a minute or so, starts going off again. So at this point my only option was to disconnect the battery. So in the about 5 minutes it took to disconnect the battery, it went off about every 30seconds-1 minute.

Any suggestions on where or what to look for?? I am a car guy (background of offroad racing, some of you might shun me, I am a Chevy guy, but I do like this Rogue for all the driving we do), so if it something simple, I would love to try and fix it myself before I take it to the dealer.

Thanks in advance,

Ryan

i have the same year/model but have never came across this issue. this COULD be a sign of a dying battery. how old is her car bat?

lmfaooo . I'm a Chevy guy too but I'm converting to JDM :P

It's the car's battery. Low voltage triggers alarm. Either charge it, or get it checked out.

Yeah yeah yeah.... I know I am on foreign (no pun intended...lol) land joining this forum! haha

But, I am super appreciative of the help and advice. Got home and threw the charger on the battery, so hoping that will get me through to the weekend to get a new battery.

Well, if its the battery, I replaced it like 2ish years ago I think. So with that said, I am concerned it might be the alternator starting to take a crap. Every once and a great while it is sluggish on start up. The car does have over 138k miles on it

hmmmm thats interesting. certainly a possibility. do the headlights get brighter if you stomp on the gas peddle while in idle? (try that at night).

One thing I learned from doing battery testing on my car is that
If you have the car locked, then disconnect the battery, as soon as you connect it back, the alarm will go off
So there is a chance that there is a problem with the battery (or related item)

Well the battery was low according to the charger, seems to be ok as of right now. Hopefully I can sleep through the night. My girlfriends uncle owns his own battery company and she gets them for free, so either way, I am going to get another one.

Well, I was able to sleep through the night, so looking like charging the battery helped. And I was thinking about it last night, last time the car was in for service, I think I remember the service writer telling us that it was getting close to needing a new battery. So new battery for sure this weekend.
