I have bought a used 2008 Altima Coupe 3.5 SE with the Bose non-Nav system. It has the XM system installed and there is an iPod cable routed into the glove compartment. I'm trying to activate the XM., however, when I try to enter the XM mode, it will show Ch. 0 for a few seconds before stating "no iPod". I can not get any typical operation from an unactivated XM unit (i.e. - can't bring up radio ID; can't listen to the preview channel).

The car's window sticker lists the XM upgrade, but I don't see any mention of an iPod add-on. Any ideas on how to get the XM to operate?

A theory I have is: The iPod cable is an aftermarket add-on that plugs into the radio in place of the XM tuner. Thus the XM tuner is unplugged at the moment. I removed the radio from the dash but did not find a typical DIN-type sat connection that are found on all aftermarket radios/tuners.

I did not see the XM tuner in the radio cavity. Any idea where it is located? I also did not find any connection that appeared to be the iPod cable - it looks like the cable routes from the glove box but not direct to the radio (but I can't see where I need to look).

I've heard rumors there was a dealer iPod add-on, and this cable appears more like an OEM style than your typical aftermarket cable, but again, I'm not sure.

Any help is appreciated.

I have the dealer OEM iPod system and it does run through the XM interface. I however, don't have the XM upgrade though. The way it was always explained to me was when the iPod was disconnected the XM would work, and then when you plug an iPod in it overrides the xm. I do know the XM tuner is in the trunk behind the carpet under the floor on the left-hand side. The OEM iPod kit has a y-type harness that plug inline behind the head unit and acts as a pass-through for the xm.

I know i'm not much help, but you maybe you can find the tuner at least.
