I have bought a used 2008 Altima Coupe 3.5 SE with the Bose non-Nav system. It has the XM system installed and there is an iPod cable routed into the glove compartment. I'm trying to activate the XM., however, when I try to enter the XM mode, it will show Ch. 0 for a few seconds before stating "no iPod". I can not get any typical operation from an unactivated XM unit (i.e. - can't bring up radio ID; can't listen to the preview channel).
The car's window sticker lists the XM upgrade, but I don't see any mention of an iPod add-on. Any ideas on how to get the XM to operate?
A theory I have is: The iPod cable is an aftermarket add-on that plugs into the radio in place of the XM tuner. Thus the XM tuner is unplugged at the moment. I removed the radio from the dash but did not find a typical DIN-type sat connection that are found on all aftermarket radios/tuners.
I did not see the XM tuner in the radio cavity. Any idea where it is located? I also did not find any connection that appeared to be the iPod cable - it looks like the cable routes from the glove box but not direct to the radio (but I can't see where I need to look).
I've heard rumors there was a dealer iPod add-on, and this cable appears more like an OEM style than your typical aftermarket cable, but again, I'm not sure.
Any help is appreciated.
