Hello guys. I'm new to this site and very glad I found it. My M35 radiator a cracked in it. I replaced radiator and the car still runs hot. I'm thinking I should replace the thermostat but I don't want to if it isn't necessary.

Any help you can provide would be most appreciated.

Thanks a million. :)

Thanks for your response. How do I bleed the air out of the system?

Hello and welcome aboard.

Check out this post on a somewhat similar thread with bleeding instructions:

I, like you, would hate to go replacing things before determining the root cause.
However, if you do choose to go that route for any reason, OEM Nissan thermostat is recommended:

'Not wanting to' is often the worst thing a person can do if the car then melts the engine. In fact, the symptom not going away may well have OP there now. What happens when head gasket fails a bit.

If you want a car to last (I prefer 300K+ miles myself, you go after any overheat issue like it is the end of the world, you fix it right then rather than any hand wringing over having to spend money. But then I've had only maybe 2 slight overheats in a long string of cars over the last 40 years or so. It's something you even fix before it happens (complete hose & stat changes at around 75-100K) and the cars cannot be killed.

Some people like to buy cars though.

The start of my overheating issues started with a faulty thermostat which lead to a cracked radiator. Replaced the radiator and thermostat and the car was back to normal for about a month. Then the engine started to overheat again but I was able to catch it and pull over before it got worse. Turned out the replacement thermostat went bad. Lesson learned about not going OEM with the thermostat. Car was fine for a few months and the engine started to overheat again...... This time it was the radiator cap that went bad.
