Hello all. I am new to this forum and am thinking about purchasing a 05 g35 coupe. I was wondering if you guys could point out some things that i should look out for as i never did any type of research on this car before. After some reading i did find out that the lock actuators go out and this is the case with the one i am looking at. Is it rare that the one i am looking at has no sun/moon roof? Every one that i have seen on the road has one. The car has a clean title and 98,xxx mikes. A little ruff around the edges (bumpers need to be painted and the front seat cushions need to be recovered) but overall it looks good and drove good. My main concern is the airbag light for the passenger side is on. Right now we are at 7k for a price. Is this a good price? Have to make a decision by tomorrow so all the help that you guys can provide will be greatly appricated

i thought the light ment the passenger airbag is off when it doesnt detect no one in the passenger seat??? double check that...

wow no sun roof... must be a early base model... that is rare.

the Vq35 engine is super reliable, so assuming they did regular maintence, the 98k miles is nothing to that engine. Id be more concerned with when and if they changed the transmission fluid if this coupe is an auto (should of been changed at least twice already) and have they already changed the spark plugs. thats about $300(assuming you go to dealer) in maintence I personally would do for peice of mind. The spark plug can be done your self easily, after you remove a couple of peices out of your way. (its a small pain in the a** but will cost you way less than going to the dealer)

You are correct. But the light was on while I was sitting in the passenger seat. I am thinking it is some type of sensor in the seat. I just don't want to have to replace the seat. I will probably take it to the dealer for a quote on that repair. Do you guys think 7k is a fair price

Welcome to NICO

The one reoccurring problem that I had with my recently traded in 06 G35 Sedan was the air bag warning light.
When that light remains on you have no air bag protection, My G was at the dealer for tis problem five times over a period of a few years. Air bag modules were replaced but finally after the warranty expired the problem was traced to the wiring harness that had to be replaced at 137k miles. The dealer wanted $2200.00 but I was able to negotiate that down since I had purchased the extended warranty from the dealer.

My advice is to be very careful when buying a used vehicle and have a few thousand on the side just in case of unforseen problems. Even if you do end up sinking thousands, if you ever have the misfortune to be involved in a serious accident the insurance company will not care how much money you just spent on a vehicle. They will total the car and just give you book value.

Good luck

So I guess my next ? Would be what is book value on a clean g35. I know kbb says 10k for excellent condition and somewhere between 8and 9k for good condition but insurance company's always has some different book value they use. At least every time I had made a claim

Best bet is to check KBB, NADA, Edmunds and others who may post car values. Then look around your local area for what they are selling for. Then you can make some form of decision on what is good/bad
