What would cause this variance in rpm when I hold the gas peddle down. I also get a P0300 code. Here is a video

Why were you holding down the gas pedal? Was it dying and not idling or something? What does it do when it's idling?

If you're talking about that fluctuation at 1500 rpm and you weren't holding down the gas pedal while it was happening, replace your TPS (throttle position sensor). The P0300 code indicates a random misfire, but take care of that TPS first.

Make sure it isn't unplugged or something goofy before you do, of course ;) It's mounted to the side of the throttle body.

You'll need to follow the adjustment procedure as described in the FSM when you install the replacement. EC-109 has the steps for that. The EC section also has troubleshooting steps on the TPS in general if you want to do that before dropping the change for a new one.

It idles fine at about 750 rpm like it should. The variance came when I was holding the gas pedal down. The one big spike was just me pushing the pedal to hard. Do you think the TPS could still be involved

More than likely, but I'd say run the multimeter tests the FSM describes to confirm. One of the TPS connectors has continuity between two terminals when the throttle is fully closed and continuity between the other two when it's fully open (if I recall correctly). The other connector is a potentiometer that communicates how much the throttle is open.

Does your gas pedal have a direct linkage to the throttle body, or is it drive-by-wire?

I dont know what you mean by a wire. It has plastic coated cable which I would call linkage. I tested the TPS per the test procedure . It tested good.

Hi,

I was wondering if you were able to fix this issue as i'm experiencing the exact same situation?
