I posted this in the online mechanic forum too.

2002 Nissan Maxima:

car is completely stock. have had a lingering SES with 0335. I was told I can replace sensor myself and should fix the problem. I was also told the car *might* need an ECU reprogram with a new sensor.

car starts and pretty much runs fine with original sensor and SES light on, but I failed emissions cuz of it, obviously. I replaced the sensor today, and the car won't start. any idea why? I'm assuming it might be because of the ECU reprogram thing, but not sure.

the sensor went in fine, the plug mated perfectly, no bent pins, etc.

I did not. I installed the sensor, THEN disconnected the battery, and came back about a half hour later. did I bust somethin?

it shouldnt matter whether you discoinnect the battery or not. Have you tried to have your diagnostic codes erased!?

Just outta curiousity, which Crank sensor did you replace!? The one at the pulley or the one at the flywheel?

2002 Maxima is a 3.5L engine, it only has 1 crank sensor.
