Nissan has just released info on a recall for these vehicles due to the headlamp bulb having a poor ground and the low beam bulb burning out. When this happens it tends to melt the plastic in the assembly and cause discoloration orr hazing of the internal reflective backing. The recall consists of an inspection and possible headlamp assembly replacement. Owner notification is set to begin August 15th 05.

Thanks for the update! I thought I had a bulb burn out, but was able to fix it by making sure the bulb connected properly to the housing.bud

I spent about $250.00 a few months ago replacing a headlight bulb!

Will I get my monies back?

Dane call 1-800nissan1 and inquire about it. If you did it at a dealer or bought parts via a dealer I think you stand an awesome chance of getting rembursment. Nissan would be foolish not to. We have had several customers pay out of pocket for this so I am sure this is going to become an addition to the campaign about rembursment.

no you need to contact that number for reimbursment. Unless you are reffering to reciepts from the dealer.

I know this is an old post, but my 02 altima's passenger headlight keeps burning! it's the 3rd time this year! the stock bulbs burned out, then i bought a bright sylvania bulb, and that went out...I thought maybe i'd try it again, and i got a pair of the same bright sylvanias for both headlights...about 5months later the passenger went out again! the driver's side is still working...i went to the dealership and they said that the headlight recall was not for my car (they asked for my VIN number)...so is that true? the recall is only for certain cars not all 2002s? anyways, I checked to see if there was any rust or bad wiring...everything seemed normal...what you guys suggest?

You're not touching your grubby mitts to the bulb as you install it are you? Any bit of oily residue will shorten the life of the bulb A LOT!
