Hi,

I am installing a new head unit with DVD and it requires a connection to the parking brake switch wire. The old head unit had bypassed this (connected to ground) but the new unit requires a connection to the actual parking brake wire (bypass won't work). I know I can access this wire at the parking brake itself, but that will require pulling off the entire center console. Anyone know of an easier place? I do have the documentation (EL) that shows the wiring diagram at the fuse box, but that looks pretty complicated and it isn't much help on exactly where it's located.

There may be a parking brake wire leading to the instrument cluster, check its working diagram in the EL section I'd check for you but I'm on my phone.

If there is one, use a T-tap to tap into the wire easily and safely.

Just a heads-up,

You may be able to just put a toggle switch in between the wire and the ground to make a bypass that way.

If you hook it up to the parking brake, you may have to put it up and down three times to get it to work each time, which is a pain.

If you do the bypass, you can get it to work while driving.

This may not be the case, but finding the parking brake wire is hard, so a bypass would be killing two birds with one stone.
