2000 Nissan Pathfinder (R50).

So I have a very bad fuel pressure regulator. I've located the vacuum hose leading to the FPR from the back of the intake manifold. Tested the line and fuel was spewing. I have purchased a new regulator and am about to tackle replacing the defective one. Obviously the rear of the engine is pretty tight. Does anyone have any tips to accessing it easily? I have a feeling I may have to remove the manifold/plenum but if there is a way to just access it without messing with much of anything else I'd like to try that route first. Thank you in advance for your help!!!

Here's a video of what's under and behind the intake manifold when you take it off...I would agree about cutting those back hoses and would get those screw type hose clamps, much easier to work with than the squeeze ones. While you have the manifold off you should clean the IACV that's under it, there's also another small coolant hose I would replace. Another set of hands helps but not necessary to lift it off. He's right about the coolant loss, it's not much but will make a mess so put something under the rig before taking it off, what i did just to see if it would work was put an earplug into the coolant hose and it stopped the flow, cut the hose towards the top of the intake so you can plug it or it will eventually stop on it's own.

I replaced the FPR on my 2001 recently, and listed the symptoms to look for and what I was seeing. Check out the post here: success-story-replaced-fuel-pressure-re ... 89289.html. It won't be much help on how to actually replace it, since it sounds like it's in a much different spot than mine. I'm still having trouble starting, though. I think it has something to do with the injectors at this point.

I found out the fuel damper was also in need of replacing, so consider doing that too. Dunno what the symptoms are; I was trying to fix another problem but it really smoothed out the idle and acceleration.

Wow i just went out and looked where the FPR is located and i had to climb into the engine bay just to find the hose and i don't see any way to replace it without removing the intake manifold. I guess i'll do mine when i do the timing belt.

Don't forget the intake manifold gasket.
