Hi, i have a 2000 Q45, just noticed the other day while it was up on a rack getting new tires installed there was some power steering fluid seeping out of the steering rack next to the boot on the driver side. Not enough to make any drips or oil marks on the pavement but i know it is starting to come out now. I did not notice any tears or rips on the boot from that initial inspection. Is this something that can be easily fixed with a new boot or gaskets or is it internal and will need a new steering rack? Also, from what ive read is that the Q uses ATF for power steering fluid. Is this correct? if so, what brand/weight is best? Thanks for the advice

If the boots aren't torn, there's not much you can do save rebuilding or replacing the entire rack. I'd keep an eye on it and see how things go. Check again more closely to be sure the boot isn't torn.

It uses regular old Mercron/Dexron style ATF. I personally like Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF. P/S systems are hard on fluid - so I try to suck all of the ATF out of the reservoir and replace it during each oil change.

You might try adding just a tiny bit of Trans-X to the fluid.

It helps to re-soften seals that have gotten hard over time - And thus can reduce fluid leakage around the seals inside the rack.

Trans-X tends to evaporate over time - So, if it works for you, you'll probably need to replenish it occasionally.

Just for reference, what would you consider to be a tiny bit? If I'm in this boat some day, I'd like to try it too...

Trans-X recommends using a 15 oz bottle (about a pint) for a transmission. In my experience, even half a pint can make a big difference.

Due to the much smaller amount of fluid in the power steering system, I'd start with just an ounce or so, and then wait a few dozen miles to see if it helps any. If not, add another ounce.
