Does anyone have any suggestions on rear brake rotors for a 1997-2001 Q45?

I plan on converting to J30/FGY33 rear calipers/rotors. Because the rotors are vented... I want the best that money can buy. I am seeking alternatives to $100 per rotor though the dealer.

Unless you drive your Q like a speed racer... I see your upgrade pointless. You said you never let your Q see any thing above what 2200 rpm? I think you should focus on getting a mint Q with lower mileage for a few dollars rather than the route you are taking but thats my 2 cents

The rear brakes are a good upgrade, but they don't see near the heat or wear that the front brakes do. I wouldn't get carried away with something super high performance on the rear, just get something that's decent.

Stillen Brembo are the best. Drilled, chamfered and cadmium plated.

I have the front and rears NIB, but they are more than $400. But they are still cheaper on the long run. I have 130K on a set on another car and they were just trued for the first time. Very slight warpage, probably like 3/100th inch.

That said, Nissan did install the vented rear rotors on both the lighter J30 and FGY33. And Infiniti in these cars used more rear brake bias than most other OEM.

I installed Hawk HPS rear brake pads, Brembo blank rotors and remanufactured J30 calipers with mounting brackets. I do not drive the car hard enough to really notice a difference. But we will see. Its also nice that the rotors stick out enough to take up the empty space left by the old rotors. It looks like Infiniti may have used the same rotor dust plate for the J30 and Q45.

No issues so far (a couple of months).

I plan on doing this to the active Q after accumulators, tires, front brake flex lines, finding out why the AC doesn't hold a charge, body work.....Too much!

I bought the cheapest ones Autozone had for my '98 t. Think it was $50 for the pair. They work great. Believe me, nobody around you will know whether you spent $50 or $500 on rear rotors.

When rotors are made so cheap and thin they can not be re-cut you will reconsider Autozone. Unless they are covered under a lifetime warranty. Rotors can also separate where the hat is. I have seen that happen when a hammer is required. But that happened because the rotor seized to the hub.

They are fine. I drive the old Infini-ssan 7-900 miles per week and anywhere from stop and go traffic to 90+ mph on the Interstate so my brakes get used HARD. If they wear out Autozone gets to replace them.

I have also seen cheap rotors cause catastophic failure before. Alot of the rotors that Advance, Autozone, and Pepboys sell are thinner rotors with a reduced number of vanes. After repeated heavy breaking they can break a chunk out of them and cause total brake failure.
