Kinda new here, i posted a thread awhile back showing a 1990 hatch i started on but I have since forgotten my username and pass so i just made a new one.

Well only days from dropping in a ka24de into the hatch I came across a coupe too clean to pass up, $300 and worth every penny. Just needing fenders and a front bumper, parts I'm stealing off my hatch :)

currently waiting on my oil strainer (pick up tube) to be delivered so we can complete the swap.

Any thoughts on painting the engine bay white?

white engine bay, white inside trunk lid, white rims, blue car, blue valve cover.

Im really not fond of red at all so paint is going to be pretty high up on my list :)

Got to work tonight on the engine bay. Cleaned the hell out of it, sanded it down and hit it with primer. Put first coat of white on and plan on wet sanding it tomorrow and doing a 2nd coat. Just using a rattle can for all the painting under the hood.

The inside was pretty much removed except for the carpet, i planned on taking it out and trying to clean it but ended up just putting the seats back in. Used the backseat from my fastback and its not quite fitting right, you can kinda see in the picture.

Put in a spare tire, the spare tire cover and the carpet from my fastback. The previous coupe owner didn't have a spare tire or the cover so he just cut the carpet to fill the well that was there. Here's some pics.

(keep forgetting an actual camera so you must all suffer though my cell pics haha)

Anyone know about the backseat not seeming to fit right, the top wont fold down all the way, only about half.

Wish I would of know about it. I paid $600 for my fastback with the messed up single cam motor, would OF preferred to start on this coupe 6months ago :)

I wanted to paint my bay white. But i thought it'd get dirty really fast, so it went black.

i was thinking about repainting my engine bay something cool when swap time comes around.

then i remember that ive got mud everywhere in my engine bay from an event in march that ive never cleaned, and realize i dont care about my engine bay.

progress! i dont think you can actually make the hatch backseat fit in the coupe.

PROGRESS!!! lol

New hardware all around because god forbid the previous owner keep track of a singly bolt for this damn motor -.-
Hockey Puck mounts, didnt really want to do it this way but i didnt have much of a choice, im losing my garage space soon (moms not enjoying my "2 week project" going into 2 months lol. Not to mention I ended up taking over her entire garage) I only have an OEM passenger side mount, and my friend was suppose to sell me a driver mount for $10 but he couldnt find it in his garage and since I don't have time to order any this is the best option i could come up with.

Just got it in, going to get everything else together in the coming week and hoping to have it going in the next 7 days!

put the ecu in diagnose mode, it didnt throw a code. Checked and im getting power to everything so i put the ecu back and tried to start it. It started for a sec but I saw a puff of smoke so i shut it off, from what i can tell it was just the excess fuel that found its way into the cylinders coming out of the hole in the back of my headers. Im assuming its egr related, going to have the nut that threads in there welded on one side so it can be blocked off.

Hoping to have a video of it running up by this weekend.

reset to TDC and restabbed the dizzy....like 8 times, then replaced the cap and stabbed one last time, finally got it right, i think. It starts now but it wont idle, i tried adjusting my throttle cable but it just idled toooo high. Also thinking theres a vacuum leak somewhere. More troubleshooting to come....

Anyone have any suggestions of what to start with? (im searching for idle issues atm so dont just say "use search")

Thanks to everyone who has said this is a nice build :) Lot more work involved than I initially though when i decided to get into a 240 lol.

Small update, been troubleshooting this damn thing for awhile -.-

So it started and ran ok, then a fitting i had welded on one side and threaded into the egr hole in the downpipe (i think egr lol) fell out on the highway drive.

The next day i realized my brake lights werent working, it was the sender unit on the pedal, easy fix. Went to have the hole welded and about 500ft from the shop my front brakes locked up....i pulled into the parking lot and had a good amount of smoke coming from my front tires. They shop owner (it was a menieke) was a 240 fan and he fixed my brakes in like 2 mins, cant remember what he said he adjusted but they work :).

Ok, so my car is about 5mins from being done and my fiance pulls up to go to lunch, i leave my car there and when i come back the damn wont idle -.-. I start it, have to give it a little gas to keep it from dying, which made stop lights tricky haha. Was able to get it home and toyed with the IACV and throttle cable, got it to idle fine, not sure what RPM because still trying to figure out my tach/speedo issue, but it sounded good haha.

So i took it around the block a few times, it drove good, shifted good and then I go to pull out onto a main road and it sputters. I pump the gas and barely get it into a parking lot about 30feet away...sit there and the idle sounds find. I drive it around the parking lot and its driving fine again -.-, i go to try this main road again and it does the same thing...WTF. I get it home and let it sit overnight. At this point I was frustrated and didn't feel like messing with it.

I noticed a vacuum line going from the intake to a hardline to right/bottom of the throttle body collapsed when the car was on, so i figured that was the problem. Went and got a new hose and new air filter since mine did not fit right. Started it and tried to take it around the block and it died about 50 feet down the road....I had to push it back into my drive. Now it will sttart and immediately die, i mean you can hear it combust and then poof, dead. I have spark, the timing is correct, the injectors have been tested and its a brand new fuel filter and new fuel soooo now im waiting on my Walbro 255 fuel pump to be delivered...hoping this fixes it -.-

Got bored and just took some more pics, nothing new :(

ok so the guy I ordered the Walbro fuel pump from on ebay sent me an email saying it was out of stock and I could wait or get a refund....got a refund. Was tired of waiting so I took my fuel pump out of my fastback (pictured above) and put it in my coupe. When I got the fuel pump out of the coupe I realized the problem, it was missing the bottom strainer thing..it didnt fall off, it wasnt in the fuel tank...it was just missing -.-.

Replaced that and back to running order. Still getting an idle surge im sure from a vacuum leak. The vacuum hose that goes from the cold air intake to the hard line that is next to the coupler that connects the cold air to the throttle body is getting pinched.

Also traded my pignose for the shark nose bumper that was suppose to be on the 91'. Currently trying to fiberglass repair my piggy lip and make it fit on my shark nose bumper :)

Built this car in my moms garage, having to drive 25mins across town every time i wanted to work on it. Had it running for about 6 weeks with a rebuilt head and then I lost compression in cylinder 1. Hooray for rebuilding the bottom end...

My coupe has been sitting in my driveway for awhile now...somewhere around 6 months while we shopped for a new house. Finally got moved in and I am going to make use of the 2 car garage (my only demand in our purchase lol)

Well it has been determined that cylinder 1 has bad rings and so the tear down process begins again. Right now, with a baby due in about a week, im not able to spend any money on the machine shop work i need, so im going to start on the interior.

Used Rit black dye to dye my seats, carpet, and headliner black.

Also covering my dash, center console, and glove box in black suede to match the 6x9 deck piece i made.

This thing--

And heres the pistons im going to use--Rock Auto .20 over OEM quality pistons. Stock rods, NPR rings, ACL bearings, and ARP rod bolts.

This is going to be a DD 240sx, with a full audio system, and will see no more than 8-10lbs boost.....eventually haha.

Got to work tonight, pretty much did did everything i could short of pulling the motor....realized my chains were at a buddys house. Pulled the upper and lower harness so I could go through it and check for any pinched, bent, or broken wires. Also going to clean it up and rewrap it...considering a wire tuck but I dunno. Motor will be out tomorrow and should be at the machine shop in a couple weeks.

In the mean time im going to redo my engine bay, realized what a s*** job I did the first time. Going with gloss black, wish me luck lol.

And dont mind the ricer blue, i asked my brother to spray the timing covers and valve cover aluminum and he decided to buy blue...
