Pretty sure the air is out by now. It doesnt overheat while idling but after driving a few kms it overheats. Turning on the heater does not affect the engine temperature.

There is no jiggle valve(bleeder valve) on the thermostat I bought. It was an expensive one though.

Use the factory thermostat. It's a two stage unit.Without the secondary port in the back coolant just recircultes in the timing cover and doesn't flow through the radiator.

You can change the thermostat without removing the fan etc but you need a small ratchet wrench with small extension to get the bottom bolt.

i put the two oem stats I have in boiling water but I only see one port even as it cools. I'm thinking the lack of the jiggle valve is the problem. Or it might just be very hard to bleed when you replace a stat.

how did you bleed the system? What I usually do is jack up the front of the car as high as possible, leave the radiator cap open and let it idle, constantly topping of with coolant/ or water. Keep the heater on blast once its hot make sure it stays hot, after about 20 min you shoud be good to go. Hope this helps

had same problem.

you have to make your car "burp"

the only reason its overheating is because it has air bubbles

so take off radiator cap, start car, squeeze thermostat hose of all air bubbles and problem solved

Parked car on incline with bleed valve and rad cap off and ran engine again. Have not overheated since.
